E-dif fluid
Spec says Castrol BOT 720, however various suppliers say the Land Rover part number is LR019727. I have a couple of quarts of the Land Rover LR019727 for electronic differentials, do we think it's really the same as BOT 720?

Castrol BOT 720 75W–90, p/n C2D3650 (Jaguar) or LR019727 (Land Rover)

Everything I've read says it's the same. I just changed mine using the Jaguar BOT 720, but you can use either one.
Make sure you can remove the fill plug before you remove the drain plug. |

Since the car was already up on the lift for inspection yesterday, I tried to get the mechanic to change the e-dif fluid. He had to cut off a piece of 8mm allen wrench to fit in the fill plug and destroyed his box end wrench trying to break it lose and rounding off the allen. He cut off another piece and repeated the process. We decided not to pursue the issue. It seems to be rusted in place and hard to get to. The other side of the differential is wide open naturally. Guess I'll get used to the left turn chatter.

Spray some PB Blaster or Aerokroil on that fill plug and give it a day or two to soak in. It will come loose.

Get him one of these so he can use a proper breaker bar. p.s. you can have a little fun and tell him to saw one of those and put inside a itty-bitty 8mm box wrench. |

That will not fit. I have a similar set. The way the mechanic did it is exactly how I had to do it. There is only about 20mm of space to work in.

I will take your advise and soak it with penetrant. If I have to saw off a #8 allen, I will used a hardened one. |
