Hello to all......

It's happened twice and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this or has an answer. When I turn the car on the mileage/fuel gauge did not light up. Everything else was fine. Any thoughts? (2007 XK)

Have you checked battery voltage yet?

Just posted this same observation recently. It seems like a voltage issue. Both times it happened, my car sat for a week in very cold conditions.

Now with daily driving it again, no issue's. Friend had the same happen with his 2007 XKR. Mine is an 09', but did sit on a lot for 5 months last year, so I may install a new battery this spring. But again, now that i'm driving it more regularly no issue's at all.

Thanks for the quick replys. Bat voltage is fine. Car was driven the previous day. It's been very cold here in NorCal -2 but so what. Last time it happened it was 75 out. Keeps the ideas/answers coming.

The electronics in these gems seem to be extremely sensitive to battery voltage. I, along with a number of others here, have had issues with the touch screen periodically locking up and the culprit was battery voltage. The car starts fine. However, the voltage drops just enough to screw with the electronics. Am about to install my third battery in a year.

I'm not suggesting that battery voltage is the cause of your problem. I do agree that it's a good place to start.

Good luck!

2007 Rick, did you measure the voltage, or did you surmise that it was fine because the car runs and drives fine?

Does anyone have any idea what it's supposed to measure?

A good indication of a marginal battery is less than 12.4 volts at the battery terminals, with the ignition off, after the car has not been running at least 8 hours.
