Eliminating the antenna ( aerial )

I own a Jaguar XK 2007 Convertible. I rarely listen to music during driving, preferring the sound of the V8 engine. :icon_cool:

I want to remove the antenna. Honestly: If ever, I listen to FM. So the antenna should be not necessary.

I´ve heard there is a set, which nicely closes the opening in the car body, if the antenna is removed. Black would be ok, car colour would be even better ( Indigo Blue Pearl ).

Please: where can I get such a kit?

Thanks in advence, Hermann

Just do what I did and disconnect the antenna and voila no more antenna going up!

Or pull the fuse. Number 4 Rear Seat box, I believe.

Hello - Purchased 2007 XKR, aerial did not work, tracked down owner prior to the guy that sold me the car as on a service receipt it said that the dealer disconnected the aerial. The fuse was pulled, replaced it and it did not solve the problem. Wondering if anyone knows where the 'disconnect' is located for the aerial as the service records said they pulled the plug ... please and thanks.

Pulling the fuse is the typical way of ‘disabling’. I wonder, if you turn on the radio, do you hear the antennae ‘trying’ to expand?
If not, see attached. Right from the Workshop Manual.

Haven't spent much time looking into get the trunk liner off - I have a coupe - if by chance you have schematic on removal of the liner I'd appreciate it, otherwise I'll just have at it one afternoon. Guess the good news is that I have become re-acquainted with my CD collection .... Zepplin, AC/DC, ZZ TOP, The WHO, ELO, Elton John, WAR, Santana .... Thanks for the info!

I addition to @guy suggestion, it's also possible that they just unplugged the antenna from the back of the CD player. It's a coin toss as to which is easier to check first. Either would take about 15 minutes to access.

Rather than hassle with the OEM antenna, I pulled the fuse and am going this route when the parts come.

Remove the center stack, disconnect the OEM antenna and connect an antenna adapter cable Fakra Z female to DIN socket, than adding an antenna to that and will leave it behind the stack

Good to know about the stealthy option ... there's always a $12 a month SIRUS but I'd like the radio available ... the aerial is dated ... I'd almost prefer not to use it ...

Unplugging it from the radio wouldn't keep it from raising and lowering - I'm guessing - when the radio powers it should respond ...regardless, thanks for the suggestions. The hidden aerial option interests me.

No it won't but the arial is driven by fuse #4 in the auxiliary fuse box. Pull that as mentioned above and use the alternative I gave you. Arial will stay down and you will get reception.

Greatest 3 minutes of my life!

Ok, that may overstate it a bit, but pulling F4 fuse in the alternate fuse box did easily solve the unsightly aerial situation. I still receive the stronger FM stations but no AM, which is an acceptable compromise.

As always, thank you for the tip.
