Default Front shock id?

I have an 07 XK (US Specs/no supercharger). The dealer has diagnosed a bad Rt Front shock and ID ed it as C2P 3132.

AllData confirms this number but describes C2P 3132 as without "adaptive damping".

I'm confused. I thought all US cars had the "Supersports CATS Suspension" with "Electronic Variable Shocks" inclusive of "adaptive damping".

Can somebody straighten me out?

Dang! It was my hope that one of you guys had some insight on this situation. Perhaps someone can confirm the part number of the rt, ft. shock before I go and order the wrong one.

why dont you pop the hood and look at the top of the shock for wires going into the shock stem. if non then theyre non adaptive. only all XJ's X350 are adaptive and not all XKR are just like not all XKR's come with alcan or brembo's there ya go TH

Thanks Brutal,

Clearly my shocks are "adaptive"- as I thought. Can you confirm that the correct part number is C2P-3132 as the dealer stated on the work order?

BTW- good to see you still hanging with us.

Just to cap this thread off, I found a Rt. Ft. adaptive shock/strut from one of our members in Calf who was dismantling an 07 XK with similar miles to mine.
I installed it today with good results. It took me 2 hours using the AllData procedure. As a bonus, the mysterious knock over rough pavement that seemed to be coming from the rear suspension is fixed as well. Strange how sound projects in these cars.
I'm sort of proud of meself.

Yes, the al. body seems to magnify sounds..........I ran over low curb (3 mph) and I though I had destroy it!! examined underside later, couldn't find a single thing. Sure was loud inside at the time, nothing like a steel vehicle........
Glad you found a shock with connector at top.

TTFN, Adrian

I forgot to mention that the dealer refused to replace only the rt. ft. shock unless he replaced the Lf. Ft. as well. I saved over $1,000 doing just the one myself with a $175 salvaged shock/strut unit. Hell, that's a new set of tires someday.
My car is under Select Edition Warranty. The blown shock was not covered and the dealer charged me $115 to diagnose the problem - refundable if I had him to the complete job with both shocks within 30 days. I'm a smart old bird I am.

Agreed. I'm happy you were one up on the dealer. But a dealer like that does not deserve you as a customer. Nor anyone else for that matter. Dollars to donuts had the shock been a warranty replacement, they would have only changed the one.
