Front Wings Warm to Touch

Following a lovely and pleasant trip, as we do, cleaned the nice alloys,
noticed quite warm under the front wheel arches,
plus the front wings (at the front end) are warm / hot to touch
Is this normal ?
No indication of error messages etc . . .

Was it a hot and sunny day?

I'm not an engineer, so my guess is that it's normal. You took a trip, which means that your car had been operating at highway speeds with the engine at maximum temperature for some time. All the heat generated by the engine gets absorbed by the coolant as it is circulated by the water pump through the radiator to be cooled by the air that passes through it. If it was a hot, sunny day it would take quite some time for the car to cool off, even though the electric fan keeps running after you turn off the engine. Everything under the hood (oops, bonnet) is very hot, including the exhaust manifolds and radiator. That heat has to go somewhere - that's why your fenders (wings) feel so hot. They're aluminum (aluminium), just like a frying pan - a good conductor of heat. Next trip, remember to bring the eggs and bacon!

some spirited driving can also do this on a nice warm day... tyres generate a fair bit of heat as do brakes... I once rather stupidly drove an XFR at "interesting speeds" back from the alps... we forgot that it had winter tyres on when we were reaching towards paris and the heat in the wings from the tyres was considerable...
