Has anyone converted an x150 to a Corvette L3 6.2L with manual 6 speed?

Anything is possible. Getting past the chassis electronics might be an issue...

If it's a flood car it would depend on how flooded it was. A lot of the electronics would be shot and if it were a salt water flood then the wiring would be compromised. If you have the money and the time it would be a fun project. I've done several chevy implants in Jag's and they worked out great. As ranch said getting past the integrated electronics would be the problem. I'm sure you could fit the LS and trans. in without to many problems and do driveshaft and exhaust . You could even sort out a start system as the LS has aftermarket wiring harnesses and ECU . You would need to decide if you want to replace the gauge package and how you want the infotainment system. The heat and AC may be a little tricky but should be doable. I would like to see someone do it.

I would think the end result would leave a lot to be desired unless this is done with cost as a non factor.

A major hurdle with modern cars is the need to hack coded information to get parts of the car to communicate properly.

That or you lose most of your features.

You'll have three options:

One, you have a hacking wizard that can make it all work. Not likely.

Two, You'll do a standalone engine management, you may lose your cars functions. Least expensive.

Three, You'll do a standalone engine management, you'll replace your cars features with your own system. Most expensive.



Result two may be possible, but I would expect it to be unsatisfactory. You might as well just get a manual gearbox Chevy.

Result Three, passion, deep pockets, time. It could be done.

Result One, Might require the same as result three, plus knowing the right sort of people.

why put 20k in a car worth $5k which will always be a timebomb of things failing and rusting.
much better to use it as a parts car to rebuild a crashed one whose wiring harness wont corrode.

The Rat Rod mentality comes to my mind.....
Pay a lot more money to make something worse than it was.

I must admit that were a car of mine catastrophically crippled I would likely contemplate some form of use or resurrection as a zombie.

If we were basing our habits on money we'd have mopeds and rent a truck when needed.

IF I were to play the mod and swap game.

I'd try to get a 2008 Portfolio Convertible exterior.

A last year 2014/2015 5.0L XKR drive-train

A 2010/2011 XKR Caramel Interior.

But anyway...

Totally agree by the time you managed to fit one in you'd end up spending twice the amount .

Aj34's can be picked up from less than 5k

Also worth noting with nothing more than a tune and upper pulley swap you'd be close to 500hp I can't see a LS2 getting anywhere near that without at least throwing a few grand into large valves, aggressive cam and headers

I’m working on a similar swap for my ‘90 300ZX.
Went with LQ9 6.0 block, refreshed 317 heads, LS6 cam, LS7 lifters and fuel injectors, LS1 intake manifold, FAST 78mm throttle body. I have a LOJ Ultimate Swap Kit ordered to make it all fit with the Nissan 5 spd.
I hope mine turns out half as nice as yours!

Plus you won't have a burbly push rod engine that sounds completely out of place.

Heckers, a Ford 5.0 Coyote with a blower on it (proper cams also) will get the power up to near 1,000, no bottom-end work required.

Rather than a flood car why not check out "mgoldxk" blown engine post? At the very least you wouldn't be dealing with non-powertrain related modules damaged by water.....and the interior would not have that gross water damage smell!

Just sayin.

A good suggestion, providing that the original post is not in a similar situation of a car with a dead engine and wanting to do something with it beyond junking it.

The thing about what TomcatJag wants to do that a straight 4.2XKR engine change out won't accomplish is the manual transmission.

However, aside from that, life is much simpler staying with a Jaguar engine if you're going to transplant.

If tomcat is seriously about a manual trans I remember seeing a drift car with the 4.2 & manual box by memory he was using emerald standalone ecu
