Default Have YOU Installed Custom Sound in your XK?

While I don't think that the factory audio set-up in my 2007 is all that bad, I certainly think that it could stand some upgrading. I am considering some custom work BUT the head unit seems to be integrated with a LOT (climate control, gps, sounds, phone, etc). I don't want to open a can of worms so I wanted to ask around to see if anyone has successfully "upgraded" or customized the sound in the XK (or XKR)?

Even adding aftermarket speakers, amps, subs, etc. while keeping the factory head unit....is THIS an option? I did some cool stuff with my Porsche Boxster but I am treating this XK with kid gloves as it's sooooooo cool already - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda thing.

Any suggestions, recommendations, stories, do's / don'ts, etc. are welcome.

By the way, when I fade the sound position to my rear speakers I barely hear ANYTHING so something has to be wrong there to begin.

Thanks!

I have the same problem but thought it was just my hearing loss.

I found that the fader is actually showing the 'target' location for the best sound.
Mine was set for the middle of the back seat, so it sounded like crap from the driver's seat. When I moved the fader controls to target the driver's seat, there was huge improvement.

Also, check out this thread, the owner made some custom sub enclosures in his trunk:
