Thanks everyone!
The two are completely different cars. XKRS is an absolute blast to drive - I love the fit and finish - almost Aston-esque in my opinion. Exhaust growl is awesome. C7 Z06, on the other hand is the most insane car I have ever driven. 650hp/650 lb ft. The thing is a full blooded sports car - there is so much grip (I have the Z07 track package) that I cannot begin to approach limits on the street. Exhaust is vicious! Z06 is just so much fun. Corvette interior is actually very nice but nothing compared to the Jaguar. Jaguar much more comfortable and palatable for daily and long distance driving. I think the two complement each other very well!

Exactly! I just took an XKR on a 4300 mile journey... was amazing and comfortable. The XK truly is one of the best GT's ever made!

The C7 base is rather fast, as it is. I already lowered it, put Z51 sway bars on it and just had a performance alignment put on it yesterday. Unfortunately, the mechanic put a slight toe-out into the rear wheels due to the camber limitations back there. Now the car is practically steering itself into corners; great fun, practically taking corners without hardly turning the steering wheel but, also kind of scary. So, next week I need to get into the rear suspension, remove some washers to give me more negative cambers and re-align the car. It is one heck of a performance bargain!
I had the chance to back to back drive both the XKR and the C7 yesterday over the same 1 hour routes. The C7 rides smoother over good quality roads while the XKR rides better over rough roads. Love the exhaust tone on both cars, not sure if I have a clear preference at this time. With electronics, Stingray wins, hands down.
Altogether, XKR for traveling in GT style fun, C7 for raw performance and carving up canyon roads. Nice to have some of the best of both world.
One surprising discovery on the C7. The rear wheels sit out far enough that hitting a sizable dip in the road at 70 MPH causes both rear tires to touch the fenders. That with only 0.5" lowering. Now I am searching for some quality forged wheels that actually sit a few mm. further in. Lots of aftermarket wheels on the market that makes things even worse by moving the wheels further out, guaranteeing a fender interference.
Edit: Suggestion; you may want to have your factory alignments checked on the ZO6. My C7 had the rears completely messed up with 0.7 & 0.8 degrees positive camber instead of the preferable negative camber values. It resulted in visible wear on my rear tires in just 700 miles. Also make sure the ZO6 rear caster is set to "0".

Z06 is manual 7 speed. I really think that is the best transmission for this car - the automatic w/paddles is techically supposed to be faster but I really like using the stick to extract revs myself and the automatic rev matching makes me feel like a pro...

Ye guys in the Uk are lucky with cheap tax. On my 2007 i pay a whopping €1886.000 or £1380.00 a year for tax, if i had a 08 it would be €2000.00 and believe it or not anything new here over 3.0 is €23500.00. We are totally screwed here. There is new emissions laws for new car now but big engines are penalized, and this is the only EU country you have to pay to import a vehicle into.
I live just 3 miles from Northern Ireland which is part of the Uk and when i see the same car with same size engine and it is only a few hundred to tax it pi**es me off, car such as mine are a rare site on Irish roads, well the REP.Of.Ireland anyway,

After some soul-searching I went for the 8sp auto. It has closer performance ratios than the 7sp manual in the Z51 model. Initially during the break-in periods, staying under 4K RPMs I was a bit disappointed with the lazy upshifts. However, as it seems, when pushed real hard to near redline it just snaps off some screaming upshifts that in no way could a manual shift duplicate. That is one big reason the auto is faster than the manual in acceleration contests.

The C7 ZO6 is available with the 8sp Auto. It just took a while for production to catch up. They held back the initial batch for transmission cooling issues.
