Help a Newbie
Drove a 2010 XK8 convertible with like 95,000 miles on it. Lots of oil changes on the car fax but no real mechanical work. Drove nicely, and I thank you all for great info here on what to check.
Before I buy I have some more research, but on this specimen two things struck me.
First, closing the drivers door with the window up gives a window rattle. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not bank vaulty.
Next, the rubber seal around the rear windo was a bit gnarly and flakey. I assume there is a handyboy fix for that?
Thanks to all for your input!

I've moved this to the appropriate Model forum for better response. As this is your first post, please stop by the new member section and post an intro - in return, you will receive a warm welcome and useful tips to navigate the forum https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-intro-must-5/
Welcome to possible X150 ownership. I’ve had mine about six weeks but it’s my fifth Jaguar (the XFR and XJR are listed in my signature, I had a 1991 XJ-S V12 coupe for 13 years, and a 2006 XK8 convertible for six years). Most of the people on this forum are friendly and you can gain a lot of information (and save time, money, and frustration) here.
As to your questions, the door glass rattle is not something I experience with my XK (65k miles), but my car does not have the same solid feel of my sedans, nor would I expect that. The rear window is heat-fused to the top and that bond gives way; what you might be seeing is evidence of a past repair using a high-strength glue. Mine was loose at the bottom when I got the car and I glued it back with Rhino Glue, which holds very well, but it doesn’t look factory-fresh. If it really bothers you, a new top with installation is between $1500 and $2000, depending on the material you choose and the shop.
if the car runs, drives, and looks good, and can be bought for mid to upper ‘teens, you’ll end up with a fun ride you likely can enjoy for many years. Of course, I’d not be responsible if I didn’t suggest a pre-purchase inspection by a competent technician, but to be transparent, I bought four of my five Jaguars online without even seeing them in person first, and I’ve not been burned yet.
Good luck!

The side windows MAY do something weird if they are not programmed correctly. Follow the WINDOW RESET PROCEDURE in the User Manual. If you don't already have one, it can be downloaded on the front page of the X150 Forum under the STICKIES section.
