I got my wheel spacers today!!!
They showed up early. I installed them in my garage this evening after it got dark. I don't have any pics yet. I'll take some tomorrow. But I really like the look! The car looked hot before I installed the spacers. Now it looks like an exotic.
Although... I hope when I see it tomorrow it the daylight it doesn't look like some silly-ass ricer. I installed 20mm spacers in both the front and back. In the front there's still a little bit of gap between the wheel well arch and the tire. In the back the tire is almost perfectly flush with the wheel well arch. There might be a couple of millimeters of overhang, but to my eye the proportions look perfect now. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. In the meantime, here's all I've got: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...fb4a83f45c.jpg |
And yes... I got these on eBay. I know some people gripe about the cheap Chinese wheel spacers, but these appear to be of decent quality. I guess I'll find out if the lugs break off when I hit a speed bump or pothole. The machining of the aluminum is spot-on, but I wonder about the quality of the lugs. The stamp on the head is fuzzy and barely readable. They definitely aren't aircraft-quality lugs. I should have taken a picture of that side. Too late now. Maybe I'll take one off this weekend just to show you the stamp on the head end of the lugs.

Makes a big difference using spacers!
Car looks more beefy, like on steroids!:-D |
Yep, but it's also tricky to not overextend them and end up with a bow legged cat. I think 15-20 is about perfect for a stock body.

I was gunna say they look legit, didn't look like they were from eBay.
Can you confirm no rubbing issues between tire and arch? I'm considering this mod too but want to make sure I don't have to make any suspension or body alterations. Also... pics??!? |
There's nothing wrong with ebay spacers so long as they come from a reputable US seller. People overpay for spacers all the time.

I really like the look but can you confirm if there is rear wheel rub at extreme suspension compression? Especially on XKR models that have wheel arch spats.
|
Here's a pic. Its not a great pic, but its all I have for now. I cannot confirm whether or not the tire will rub because I don't have any way to compress the spring that far. There is one pretty bad bump on my drive to work. It is where the road meets an overpass and the asphalt right before the overpass has sunk. This morning I when over it and I found no indication of any rubbing. That's about the worst bump I ever drive over, and its not an issue.
The tires are now about 2mm inside the wheel arch. If I had put on 25mm spacers the tires would have extended out past the wheel arch and that would look like crap. Right now they look perfect. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...4f1dc1bce5.jpg |
Were they a direct fit with no modification needed? I like would like to do the same to my 07 with 20" sentas.

Loctite is always a good idea for spacers.
|
UPDATE: I have experienced rubbing on hard bumps twice now. So I guess the 20mm spacers on the rear are a smidgen too wide.
But they look so good!!! I'm not sure if I want to leave them, or swap them for some 15's. What's the worst that could happen? |
I'm planning on running 12MM front and rear. I'll post pics :)

Sam, can't you just chuck the spacers in your lathe and mill off a few mm?

If I had thousands of dollars to blow, if buy the lathe, but I have to stay in budget. |
