Default I want one

either one. I know this isn't the F-Type forum but they don't make our beloved XK anymore.

So I want one of these. Don't care which one. I love the article and some of the comments are great.

"As much as I love the F-Type, this was a mismatch. Why would you do this? My beloved cars pitted against each other. Theyre both great in their own class. I’d buy both regardless of pros and cons."

https://www.carthrottle.com/post/mer...-shouty-drama/

And the shear lack of hyperbole makes it a dull read:
"There’s an appeal to that, but back in the F-Type I was reminded how a V8 can sound when it’s fed by a supercharger rather than twin turbochargers. And when whoever designed the exhaust system wants to deafen anyone within a half mile radius of the car. Did I mention it’s a tad loud?

Satan eating half a dozen nukes; one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons getting neutered at the Winterfell Veterinary Clinic; the actual end of the world - no over-the-top analogy can adequately describe the aural drama this car delivers. You just have to be there in person to experience its V8-generated sound waves smashing into your eardrums."

Personally I would get one of these and modify it if I were going to go the drop top route.

There was an AMG at my office car park a few weeks ago and I couldnt resist sneaking in next to it for some comparison pics. Considering that they are both 2 seat front engined GT coupes, they certainly look nothing alike...

That AMG grill is ghastly. Even worse than the new Lexus grills.

I dunno, I've got one of those butt ugly Lexus grills, and probably wouldn't mind switching to the AMG grill.

This afternoon driving south from Bakersfield back to Los Angeles, a young man entering the freeway driving a new white AMG pulled up next to my XKR and starting snapping pictures with his cellphone. It started me thinking about German cars vs. English cars and their differences in emphasis. It seems to me that the driving force behind the conceptual design of any Jaguar or Aston Martin starts with its beauty first and everything else follows. Although I think Mercedes' styling has improved dramatically over the last few years, it still seems that form follows function and that there are other priorities that come first. I don't find the AMG very attractive although it's not the horrible caricature of the SLS that preceded it. Different tastes make for lots of great choices.

To be clear, I don't want them enough to buy them. I'm not picky when it's given to me and far less critical if on someone else's dime.

Now if only Elvis were alive today and read this, I'd have a shot at one.

Maybe it's the lighting, but those are two incredibly clean cars.

I'm just not an MB type so if I were to take this one it would be to turn it for profit. Never liked the styling but then again different strokes for different folks. When I was a snot nose kid and worked pumping gas I recall a guy coming into the station with a 300SL gull wing. It was a cool car at the time buy after that I didn't like the design direction. Back in those days gas was 25 cents a gallon.

Thanks! I cant speak for the Benz owner who seems to have a different car there every couple of weeks - a lot of the time under sheets - but I've been using Carpro reload on mine and even when it is dusty it still looks clean and glossy, so it photographs nicely.

I really like the hindquarters and how they blend into the rear wing on the V12 Vanquish-S.

I think there is a trigger reason.

Other then the AM's color I'd take it but as for the porch well that would be flip as I'm not a fan of them.

Gotta say, the "I want one" kinda got triggered with this unique XKR.

That interior is harsh on the eyes

Would have much preferred cranberry stitching/charcoal leather on this vehicle

Yeah, but for a car I wouldn't buy myself I'd make exceptions for a gift!

German cars had an incredible value proposition: Built to last a lifetime, and even your children's lifetime. Every decision down to the choice of seating material was made with this in mind. Today all that is as useful as **** on a bull because no one keeps a car even for a decade...worse they are not even being built to last that long...and none of the design decisions will survive even 5 years. The Merc SL will really look horrible in a few years from now.
