First: Thanks to all of you who have made this site such a phenomenal resource for all things Jaguar and all of the information and how-to posts. It is so helpful. You all do a fantastic job of it.

I just acquired a 2009 XKR with 53,000 miles from the original owner. I will be going through it in detail and see what it will be needing in the coming months.

I will:
* need to redo the dash leather so I will be looking for a shop I can take the dash to and have it repaired or redone. (Mid-Atlantic South-East Virginia area)
* look into the Intelligent Sounder??? (no chirps at all)
* see about he water pump and chain tensioners
* get a gauge app with an OBD Bluetooth transmitter
* figure out how to get my android phone to stream audio
* maybe have the wheels restored

Looking forward to tracking along with this forum.

Welcome and congratulations about your new ride!

About the radio I would suggest you shift the antic piece for a tesla style radio, or you get in touch with Cambo who has great solutions looking OEM. Depending on your budget/skills. It'll bring the odb things at same time too.
About the dash, if you can get it out yourself, you can easily repair it yourself too.

Hi and welcome. You mention "see about the water pump and tensioners." If they aren't giving you trouble, they probably never will. The tensioners and water pump issues impact the 5.0 AJ33 engine, not the 4.2. So if they ain't broke, check them off you list.

If you want to maintain the look of you center stack, @Tiepolo suggested Cambo's solution. I have it in my car. Allows for Android Auto. Cambo is a moderator here but also runs a business in Australia. OldJaguar.com. They are pretty quick to respond on line. Reach out to them via their website, not here.

Welcome to the Forum! You are very fortunate to be the new owner of a 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible that's equipped with the Alcon Performance Brake Package, which was a $5,000 option. How rare is it?

Tell us more - interior color, does it have Adaptive Cruise, etc. - and sign up on the Registry.

Welcome to the forum! I can check a couple of things off your list! I have my Cabrio Bob AUD listed in the marketplace. It fits in the ashtray and will connect to a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to give you the info you want when you want it. I recently installed the Tesla style infotainment system and removed my Cambo CarPlay mentioned in a previous post. I had my dash leather repaired by The Trim Shop in Newark, DE. Two years ago and still looks great…fun cars, fun forum!

The car has a black interior with red stitching and a gray dash and what looks like walnut woodwork and a light gray top. Yes, it has adaptive cruise. Everything works.

I bought the car from the original owner who is now 90 years old. He can't drive it anymore and was sad to let it go. His wife has been

Wheel finish is flaking.

Black interior with red stitching.

Leather dash is shrinking.
urging him to sell it. He has a Jag sedan and a Rover as well. It's been fully maintained by Browns Jaguar in Richmond.

I replaced the battery (5 yrs old and was on a trickle charger).

I need the small round Jaguar emblem on the front grill. It's missing. The finish on the wheels is also failing.

I checked Ebay and found nothing. You can Google "used Jaguar parts".

A photo of your grill would have been helpful. Here's mine. Note that it has two parts, the outer bezel and the inner Growler emblem. I presume that you have the bezel and just the Growler is missing, but both are below. You can see how the badge fits into the bezel.

All 2009 Portfolio Edition models were Shadow Grey and were equipped with 20 inch Selena wheels. There were two choices for the interior color: Charcoal with Cranberry stitching (yours) or Ivory and Slate (mine, below). There were two choices for the dashboard trim: real wood veneer called Rich Oak, which was exclusive to the 2009 Portfolios, or Engine Spun Aluminum. Note that the Portfolio floor mats were bound with genuine leather that matched the seats. Although the Portfolio side fender gills looked similar to the standard vents, they were milled from a block of aluminum and polished, and were very expensive.

A few mods ... paddle shifter extensions, wireless solar powered backup camera display in ashtray, custom //R logo footrest ...


Because your car has Alcon brakes, it came from the factory without a spare tire. Jaguar didn't have a compact spare wheel that would fit over the huge Alcon front rotors. So they included an emergency kit with a 12v tire Inflator and a spray can similar to Fix-A-Flat. If you want a compact spare, here's how to do it:

Your XKR Portfolio Convertible is rare, with a gray top, Alcon brakes, and Adaptive Cruise. Adaptive Cruise Control was a $2,200 option and the Alcon Performance Brake Package was a $5,000 option.

You may want to install Forum Member WhiteXKR's remote control top module. I installed it myself and recommend it together with a rear wind deflector. I can raise all four windows with the top down and the cabin is calm at highway speeds.

your dash needs help. before you tear it out and have it redone -- try heating the leather to soften the glue pushing and rolling from the fascia toward the front. I used a heat gun but you have to be careful. A hair dryer works too but again, needs to be done carefully. I used this to roll it in combination with my hand to move the air out in one direction. It should hold for a long time before you'll want to re-do the dash.

Hi, Fred. Pick up an Autel AP200 with the JLR software download. About $70 on Amazon. Will give you full access to Jag OBD codes plus various service tools you'll likely need. There are several oddities to these, like sometimes the seats need to be re-calibrated. This one will let you DIY many things that the dealer would charge you for. It has other tests and access to many data streams in the car. Very helpful to learn how it works. BTW, in the top stickys in this forum are a maintenance manual and an electrical manual.
