Welcome aboard - Nice ride. It looks as if you are from Toronto. Why not add that to your signature block?

runnwyld 04-06-2019 07:43 PM

Done. Thanks for the tip :o)

Welcome, Rob.

This is a very active Forum with many helpful and knowledgeable members. I suggest that you read the "stickies' that are posted at the beginning of this Forum's home page and learn to use the Advanced Search function. You'll have questions about your new ride, and Advanced Search will help you find answers. The 5.0L XKR has a few weak spots, including the water pump, proper spec motor oil, AC condensate drain ("duckbill"), leather dashboard separating, and electrical gremlins caused by a low battery. These are all minor nuisances compared to the fun and joy of driving an XKR. Use Advanced Search to learn about these niggles and how to address them. Overall, it's a great car and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Stuart

Congratulations, beautiful car, I love that color.
I bought my 08 with 35k on it about 6 weeks ago and still can't stop opening the garage door to take a look every couple of hours:)

First I've heard that the 5.0 has duckbill issues??

Don't frighten the poor chap unduly :D

Looks great. Keep a feeler out for 19" wheel set considering your locale. If you can find a deal it's worth grabbing.

Which blue is that?

Agreed. I too freaked out about the duckbill but that ended when I lubed up the palm of my hand and massaged the sucker to death. Now my car pees freely thanks to the instructions posted by GRBRIT. I cannot thank the guy enough.

All of the XKRs niggles and possible problems are forgiven by the exhilarator pedal. :icon_steer: WooHoo!

Some very early 2010 (5.0) models had the old duckie, but it got replaced as soon as old stock ran out. As far as I've heard anyway.

The 19" wheels and tires absorb impacts better than the 20" resulting in a nicer ride and less wheel damage if you do hit a pothole. I however do agree the 20's look better.
