Iphone Interface
I am finally giving in to the Iphone craze and will be receiving one shortly (I wasn't happy giving up on my many year love affair with Motorola). There are very few threads that I found with people that have installed the Jaguar interface and can recount experience with it...does anyone have any updated experience with the jag interface good, bad or otherwise?
Does it integrate fully with the center screen? If so how fully does it integrate? Is it worth what I am seeing as a $500 cost or are there better alternatives? I will install myself so dealer labor doesn't matter to me. Just trying to understand what I am getting into before I leap. Any part numbers and actual costs that have been paid for it would also help...thanks Guy |
Depends on which year xk .. 07 is all in the iPhone .. Zero screen intergration.. Must use playlist ... Or use the iPhone for song selection... all screen shows is aux in big writing and a red and blk RCA cable
09 has complete folders on the screen and you can choose from the screen .. Don't even have to look at the iPod just plug it in.. |
I have 08 XKR....so where does that leave me?

it wud be like a 07

Hummm...don't spose there is such a thing as a software update is there? Something to bring an 08 to 09? Or maybe a replacement part that could be swapped out that has the capability for the ipod....

no software fix.. i guess you can put the parts in to make it work.. never tried.. can get expensive but anything can be done .. 09's have a usb port and a ipod cord.
|
Any ideas about what parts to replace to get the Iphone functionality of 09 model?

09 head unit transplant
I am about to pull the trigger on a 07 or 08 XKR and I was wondering the same thing. Can the head unit from a 09 XK work in a 07 or 08 model. And the next question if so, is how much would that cost?

09 USB Cord
From everything I have read, the USB interface that the 09+ have allows full control along with song/artist infomation on the touch screen. The ACM module in the 07-08 models only gets you the ability to change between playlists (6 I think) and move up and down the track list. The touch screen only shows the word "AUX" with a picture of a red and white RCA connector (if any of that is wrong please correct me).
I am picking up a 08 XKR Portfolio next week and I am way excited, however I think I am going to miss the MyGig interface from my Jeep Grand Cherokee. If a 09 head unit would work in the 08 and was under 2K to do the swap, I think it would be worth it because it would still be thousands cheaper than buying an 09. Gary |
My 2008 XKR intergrates perfectly with my iPhone. Including downloading my phonebook and last 10 calls each time it connects to the bluetooth.
I was surprised because I had a very state of the art aftermarket system retrofitted in my 2003 xkr that I traded in and the phone book or any other feature accept "dial" would work from the head unit. |
I have a 09 xkr. The screen says USB and iPod. Where Is the USB and iPod cord located. I can't find the port. Thanks
