Jaguar XK 2006
Hi all,
I have just recently purchased my Jag XK and was pleased to learn their was an inbuilt bluetooth capability via the factory in built headunit/interface. BTW I am a new Jag owner and really looking forward to years of joy, however.........
I was sad to find out the bluetooth would only support phone calls and not allow me to play music via my smartphone
I have done lots of reading from various threads on this forum as well as other Jaguar forums and it seems really confusing. What I do know is factory headunit won't allow me to connect my phone for music without some changes!
I have read various posts that you can achieve this through either:
1-Jaguar Audio Connectivity Module - Believe this has now been discontinued and was primarly used to allow only iPod connectivity, is this true as I don't use Apple products and instead want to connect my phone via either auxilliary input or ideally bluetooth
2-Parrot or some other type of bluetooth tool
3 - Other method I haven't considered?
Don't want to spend a fortune but would be willing to spend up to £200 to get this sorted.
I have very little technical experience in installing something myself but need to know what would work to alllow me to connect my phone via bluetooth so I can play music, receive and make calls etc
If bluetooth isn't possible, I would be happy to receive/make calls via the inbuilt headunit however allow music to be played through AUX.
NOTE - On the inbuilt headunit the only two modes available for audio are AM/FM & CD so not sure how I would get the AUX to work anyhow!
Thanks
Parm

Sorry Parm but you options are poor. You can get an FM modulator that plays it through the radio, you can use 1/8 to RCA cables and plug into the AUX ports in the glovebox (with the ACM install) or you can go buy an iPod. The FM modulator limits frequency response and sounds like poop. The 1/8 to RCA sounds marginally better but you'll have cables from your lap to the glovebox.
The easiest and cheapest solution is to buy an iPod.

Do the XK's have a usb port that I am unaware of. If so where would it be located on the 2007 model?

I put an ACM in my 07 XK in November (while I had everything torn apart to install a GVIF and HKS Camp2), but I haven't taken it to a dealer yet to get it activated. If the 'audio' screen on the dash gives you an 'AUX' choice for your audio source, you then have an ACM that has been activated. Installed previously by a dealer or previous owner.

The ACM became standard equipment in North America with the 2009 XK/XKR, the last of the 4.2L models. It was a dealer installed option before then.

When the ACM is installed, the installer has to use the Jag Diagnostic system to 'introduce' the module to the car. The audio system then recognises the new source.

Hi, I also added the ACM module to my 2006/2007 model..(well the garage did for me..) and added the wireless Bluetooth module to it too (Tune2Air).. It converts the ACM modules' IPhone (2-3-4) connector to Bluetooth.. and yes.. that one works with iPhone 5, Windows Phone and (although not tested) probably also with Android systems..
As I removed the antenna fuse (and my radio not working fully), I actually rely on streaming audio from my iPhone via Bluetooth to the radio Aux daily. Quality is good enough for me (better than FM transmitters) and it allows controls on the steering wheel (next song, next block in podcast).
If you want Bluetooth for audio.., this is the setup to take..

The USB port is inside the center console, towards the rear. I use a 64GB drive, have almost 9,000 songs, and only use about half the space. It works directly off the infotainment and controlled via steering wheel controls.

This is only available on the gen2 models or the gen1 models that have the Aux/Audio Interface kit installed..by default it is not available on the 2006-2007-2008 models.. you can get it installed though.. (RECOMMENDED)
