MAF Sensor DIY
 

Hello everyone, my engine management light came on and the code was P0101 which I believe is MAF sensor problem. So after looking at the location of these I see they are located at the back of the bumper/fog light. Can anyone let me know if changing these out is a DIY job and can you access them if you take the front wheel off?

Oh boy, where to begin ....

You can search through this forum for some pointers on that code.

As for the MAFs, for each side, you can take the front wheel off, remove the inner arch liner, remove the resonator pipes (upper and lower), and disconnect the electrical connector. From here you can clean the sensor and connectors. Make sure all connectors are secured and fully engaged. Remove and inspect the air filters, too.

If you want to remove the sensors, you will need to remove the airboxes, which is a bit more involved. I removed the front bumper to remove them.

If cleaning doesn't work, you will have to look at a few other things. I plan on doing pinpoint tests and inspecting the harness ... one day....

thank you for all the information it sounds like it could be a challenge. I think I will book it in to an independent Jaguar specialist garage here in Scotland to get this fixed.

I had the same problem. I pulled out the air filter and checked,(was ok), then removed thhe box and you can sort of reach the MAF sensor and spay MAF sensor cleaner on it. Cleared the fault code. Did both sides and its been about a month or so and the check engine light has not come back on.
