Mina Gallery Exhaust Video

Just posting a video of the Mina Gallery exhaust on my 2007 4.2 n/a XK, since there always seem to be exhaust questions popping up from time to time. This video gives a good idea of the sound under a variety of conditions. Mid-section resonators have been deleted, so just the cats and this Mina exhaust piece. As always, use headphones or good speakers to fully appreciate the sound. ;)

Music To My Ears!

That's the best sounding normally-aspirated XK I've heard! Awesome!

It's interesting how little things change after 55 years. Your XK's exhaust sound reminds me of the promo record "Sounds of Corvette" from 1961 that was narrated by Zora Arkus Duntov, the "father of the Corvette". That Corvette was equipped with the optional off-road exhaust that had round straight through mufflers instead of oval baffled mufflers. Listen and enjoy!

Wow, that does sound like it! Good ear, Stuart, and thanks for the compliment! Needless to say, I really like the sound of the Mina.

Good tone and similar to my 2012 XKR in normal mode. I think the difference is when I turn on DSC the exhaust gets louder and more raspy . Enjoy

Sounds of 1961 Corvette - YouTube

Ah yes I remember the sound. I gotta say my 63 340HP with side pipes was a little louder . Also Zora was a little slow on his upshifts but maybe because of the mickey mouse shifter. With the Hurst shift kit you couls slam the gears much quicker. I used to do a clutch and a set of rear tires every 9 months but back in 64 it was just parts costs to me. Ah the good old days. :icon_oldskewl:

My '60 was way louder than stock, since it had a 327-365HP engine, equal length long tube Hooker headers and the off-road mufflers (with a 4-speed and 4.11 positraction rear). Here's part of the story:

Sometimes I think I shouldn't have sold it. And then I realize that my XKR is so much better in every way... No regrets at all.

That Mina has a lovely tone and good looks too.
Very happy with the sound (and price for a used one) of the XKR back box I put on my XK, but if I were to actually buy a new system, this would be a strong possibility.

Absolutly love the Mina exhaust and the sound!!!! What else can be done to improve the performance of a 2010 xkr

BruceTheQuail 01-09-2016 02:20 AM

Hey Jerome - the video is of a 4.2litre which is pre 2010 model year. The 4.2 sounds better than the 5.0 IMO, much "throbbier" and really takes well to the mods, though the 5.0 sounds awesome as well.

I've had the 4.2NA, 5.0NA, and the 5.0SC. The NA engines I used a paramount exhaust on (great for the 4.2, not so much on the 5.0) and the XKR 5.0 I have the X pipe and resonator delete which makes for a real howl and is great in its own way.

What engine do you have? Others have modded theirs though I find I lose traction as it is so I dont need more power. Apparently other tyres might fix that.

Jag xkr updrades

I've got the 5.0 supercharged V8. I love the sound so far but I've started to think about tweaking it for a few extra horses. I've thought about the supercharger pull-up upgrade and a different exhaust like the Mina or quick silver. I don't need any more horses but with our cars it's never about need as much as it is want and knowing you've got that extra umph if you decide to use it

Just for Me I'm taking a performance vehicle drivers course in the spring. My last car was a Mercedes clk43 AMG. And my xkr is much better on the performance side. And let's not forget that sexy look. Lol

Got any recommendations on upgrading?

BruceTheQuail 01-10-2016 12:17 AM

I'd do the X pipe/resonator delete first. It is cheap as chips and gives you quite a bit of bang for your buck. Supposedly it gives a few more hp, and that may well be right. This video of the XFR-S gives you what the note is like after the X pipe goes in https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...x-pipe-151418/

I havent done anything else aside from cosmetics. The car is plenty quick enough for me, and while others track their cars frequently, personally I didnt like pushing mine around that much with the heavy braking. But we pay a lot more for ours than you do, I suppose that if mine had been super cheap I wouldnt mind flogging it.
