Default MP3 / WMA CD compatibility - XK 2007 - stock sound system

Hello, I have a problem concerning the compatibility of playing MP3/WMA discs. My car is an 2007 XK with the stock sound system (no alpine) and NO ipod connectivity feature. I tried to find helpful posts here at the forum but I humbly failed.

What I want to know is, if it is anyhow possible to store MP3/WMA files on a CD that they can get played by the sound system in my XK?
The manual says that MP3/WMA CDs are compatible with the system. But if I insert a disc with MP3 files it says: "CD Error" and ejects the disc immediatly.

Do you have any idea if it is possible to play such MP3 discs in general - or is only possible with the ipod connectivity feature? Is there any issue with the file format oder the disc format like CD-R or CD+R? Or is it just a wrong information in my manual?

Please excuse if the answer of this question is anywhere around in this forum but I did use the search function with different tags and did not find any solution.

Thank you very much

I've tried in my 2007 too. I think the sound system simply doesn't handle MP3 files.

I have a 2007 XK with the Alpine system and loaded a bunch of songs off iTunes onto a CD disc and it plays fine.

My 2007 can play MP3 files. I have the premium system but the brochure implies that the standard system can play them as well.

Welcome to the forum lord-jik,

You need to:

1. create the MP3 CD as a data, NOT an audio disc
2. close it after copying. The Jaguar system doesn't seem to handle 'open' discs

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.
