Default radiator splash shield removal help

I've got an 07 xkr with a leaking fuel rail and just started disassembly. I took out the 21 torx screws for the radiator splash sheild but can't figure out how to release the clips that still hold the shield in place. Can anyone help?

Cheers!

In the front wheel wells, there are two Torx screws on each side that hold the little flaps at the bottom front of the wheel openings. Have you removed those screws and the flaps?

After you have done that, you should be able to pull the splash shield towards the rear of the car, then it will drop down. The leading edge of the shield fits into a slot in the body, so you have to pull it out of that slot, then it can be removed.

Adding to what Patrick said...

There is a small round "latch" on the very front just to the right of center that is inline with all the front screw you removed. Sometimes you must "unlatch" that before it will slide backwards. So if it feels like it is hung up on something at the front edge and will not slide rearward and you are positive all of the front edge screws are removed, take a look at that.

I haven't noticed this, maybe that was added to the newer model XK?

Unless it snags on it you may never notice it. Look for what may look like another screw hole just off center. It may also look like another screw that was broken off and you will see it. I assume this is an installation aid for the assembly line to help hold it in place while the worker fits the rest of the screws.

Could be a 10-up thing, but check when you can. It is approx 3" to the right of the center screw. Just in front of the recessed screw/bolt in that area.

Dave

Wait, here is a quick pic..

BTW, I didn't do that scuffing on the bottom, was the PO. Going to be fixing that soon as bumper cover repaint by PO is not exact.

Thanks guys. There were two extra torx screws inboard behind the wheels. And the manual couldnt mention that the whole thing slides back instead of just saying 'remove the 13 clips'? I'm fighting the egr valve now. Sure glad I have the hands of a small child.
