My xk downloads the battery

I have checked the electric consumption at rest of my xk of the year 2008 and I see that consumes 0.30 A. after stopping and closing all the doors. I think it's excessive. Anyone save if it's normal?

Is the car locked with the fob at least 20 feet away? It may take a little while for the quiescent current draw to drop down to 0.02A or thereabouts. If it remains at 0.3A indefinitely then you have a problem with a stuck relay or similar issue.

Then you would be faced with having to remove fuses to try to narrow down where the current draw is coming from, which sounds like a painful process to go through considering the number of circuits potentially involved.

Is it not the same to close the door and press the remote control 2 times to close the door and press the door button twice?

All the computers take 30-40 minutes to gradually all turn off whether the alarm is active or car is locked.. That whole 30-40 minutes they still use extra power.
ALSO, if a battery lead is disconnected to insert any Ammeter, that resets all the modules for ANOTHER 30-40 minutes.

Jomiltom 06-16-2019 11:43 AM

I have inserted an amperemeter in series in the negative terminal of the battery and I have closed all the doors, then I have closed the car with the remote control and the ammeter has lowered its reading to 0 in about 2 min.

There must be a lower range setting on your ammeter, as even keeping clock time would take 0.01. Add the alarm, keyless entry and all that other stuff would be up there aways.

It is true that there is a consumption of 0.01A. In addition I already put it in previous interventions. Now I was wrong to write and I put 0 A when I really wanted to say 0.01 A. The important thing is that it does not have an abnormal consumption when stopped and closed.

NEW BATTERY!!!!! That's always the answer. Always. Never is it NOT the answer.

Jomiltom 06-16-2019 02:16 PM

The battery is new. I changed it a month ago. If the battery had been old I would not have considered looking at residual consumption at rest. Greetings.

Thanks for letting us know that your car is OK.

Saludos.

Not true. Mine shuts down a lot quicker if I lock it which is why I have started doing that even if it is in my locked garage. That seems to preserve the battery enough so that I don't have to resort to my CTEK even with my 4 mile daily commute.

If that table is to be believed, then footnote #2 says its about 15 minutes if you have TPMS.

u102768 06-18-2019 01:07 AM

I assume that is more relevant to the cars that otherwise shutdown in 10 minutes.
