I just acquired an 07 XKR. One mystery that still confounds me is the 3.5mm audio input jack that someone installed ON the center console wood next to the gear shift.
I appears identical to the jack in this item:

It is nicely installed and looks like somebody put some time into it, but I have not been able to figure out how to pipe music through it. There are no visible switches in the care, and no selections on the screen to select and AUX input. No other modifications to the Alpine premium audio can be seen. Only selections on the screen are the AM/FM, Satellite Radio, and CD player.
When I am playing music through an ipod for example, and connect to this INPUT jack, nothing happens in the dash screen, and no music is heard from the ipod, just the same audio as you get from the head unit.
I tried selecting different discs in CD mode, but nothing here either.

Based on the product in the link, I would assume this is hooked to the head unit somehow, but have no way to know. So why would this INPUT jack have been installed and have no way to use it?

Any ideas on how I can verify is this is a "live" connection to the head unit or something? Or without tearing the interior up, is there some obvious place you would check for where the INPUT wire might lead?

Might be an FM modulator type. Plug in a source and switch through all of the FM presets and see if you get lucky.
