NAC Extended warranty
Hello, everyone. I drive a 2007 XKR, purchased at about 35,000 miles; it had only about one year left on the extended warranty. It's time to consider whether to purchase an extension of the warranty, and I am interested in your thoughts/experience.
My local Jaguar dealer is quoting me $3300 for a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Given that I tend not to put 12k miles/year on this car, that means it'll get me to fall of 2014, but by that point I probably won't even have hit 50k miles. The plan is through NAC, their "Pinnacle Plan" which is quite comprehensive other than wear-and-tear, and does include electrical, cruise control systems, etc.. NAC has a good record with BBB and reasonably good reviews online in general, but I haven't seen them discussed too much here on the Jaguar Forum. I realize that all warranty plans are a gamble, and so I'm vacillating between just putting the $3300 in a savings account (okay, maybe not a savings account, given interest rates these days, but YKWIM) or ponying up and getting the warranty. Any experience with NAC and/or third-party warranties in general? Thanks much for your thoughts. |
FYI; just got a new quote from my local dealer. He is willing to add another year to the warranty, taking it to 48 months/50k miles, for the same price ($3300). Don't know if this would change your advice, but thought I'd share the info.

if it were me I would have to believe that I would need over $4,000 in repairs to make this a worthwhile investment although $3,300 does buy you peace of mind for four years....You could offer them $2,500 and settle on $2,800. These products have well over a 100% margin in them.
