Hi guys, I’m new here with a black/caramel 07 XK coupe. After spending hours reading through posts on this forum I’ve decided to delete the rear factory muffler, add straight pipes, and possibly replace the factory resonator with an x-pipe.

If I move forward with this do I need to have the car tuned? And if so how do I go about finding someone to do this? Will I open a can of worms messing with this? My sole objective is improving and increasing the sound. Thanks!

 

No, you'll be fine with such a small change the computer controlled fuel injection will adjust the fuel ratio accordingly

 

No tuning needed if you don’t touch the catalysts and sensors. Straight pipes mean you eliminate EVERYTHING including cats, resonators, crossovers, mufflers, etc. and that WOULD require a tune.

 

Consider simply removing anf preserving the muffler in an easily reversible way in case you change your mind or decide to sell the XK.
