New shocks => Adaptive Dynamics Fault
I just replaced the rear shocks in my 2012 XK with Bilstein B4 units (part# 20-114503), as well as the rear control arms (upper and lower). As soon as I put the car in D and roll a few feet, I get the "Adaptive Dynamics Fault" and the car feels very stiff.
I used an iCarsoft scanner to pull the codes from the suspension module, which shows: C110E-64 (Rear left damper solenoid, intermittent), C110F-64 (Rear right damper solenoid, intermittent), C110F-14 (Rear right damper solenoid, intermittent).
I tried connecting the electronic connector to the old shock and the error for the respective side went away.
I bought the shocks from www.shocksurplus.com/ new, so it seems suspect that both shocks can be bad. Any thoughts what else could be causing these problems?

Googling that part number, I see that all the sellers are listing it for both the 4.2L and 5.0L cars, which can’t be true. The 4.2L and 5.0L damping systems are different, and a shock can’t work correctly for both. Sounds like the ones you got are for the 4.2L system (or they’re both bad).
Check the resistance between the two pins on the top of the shock. There’s a thread here which posted the resistance values for the two types of shocks. Will try to find it later.

Resistance across the solenoid pins of an adaptive dynamics damper (5.0L) should be 2 to 3.5 ohms; if more than 5 ohms, you should suspect that the damper is from a CATS (4.2L) system.
Now you can check those shocks.
Thank you! Yes, that seems to be the problem.
Anybody know whether Bilstein makes rear shocks for the 2010+ XK, and if so, what's the correct part#?
FCP Euro and other sellers list this part number (20-114503) as compatible with all years.
There is also Bilstein part# 20-114428 and some websites list it as compatible with 2010+, while others list it as compatible with up to 2009 models only.
If not, are there any options besides from Jaguar?

I have an '07 with first gen CATS. The PN # 20-114428 is the one I used on my rear pair, and it works fine on mine. Therefore it wont work on Gen 2 like yours.
Parts sources identify this is Damptronic and many say it's for later models as well. They're wrong. Gen 1 Damptronic only.
Your shockssurplus.com says they have in stock rear shocks for the '12 XK's, 20-114503, $700 or so per set. They have correctly listed the stock numbers for the appropriate years for XK's. Maybe you can convince them to swap? Or sell these online?
Good luck

Has anybody successfully installed Bilsteins on a 2010+ XK, and if so, what's the correct part#?
I've been wondering myself. I have a 2010 XKR and it seems like the right number is: C2P22569 (for 2010-2011 at least). This shows a few hits but hard to cross reference to a Bilstein number.

I just got off the phone with Bilstein's technical support and I thought I'd share some information. They confirmed that part #20-114503 is compatible only with the 2007–2009 Jaguar XK/XKR. Here’s the official page: https://cart.bilsteinus.com/shock-20-114503.html
Various sellers (including FCP Euro) list this part number as compatible with all 2007+ XKs or only with 2010-15 XKs. That is incorrect. Bilstein does not make shocks for 2010 and later Jaguar XKs.

Confirm with a dealer but the part for rear 2010 - 2015 is c2p17674

Hello,
Sorry your shocks didn't work out. I just got an estimate to get my leaking shocks replaced on my 2013 and it was $5k US for front an rear. Crazy! Reputable shop. So I'm shopping around too.
Please let me know if you find a good alternative. I'm not stuck to OEM. In fact I'd prefer an upgrade for less.

Swallows does some good looking coilovers, but you would lose the adaptive dampers function and need to get a module that prevents the warning. Food for thought though.
