New XKR (X150) Owner
Hey guys,
I am new to the board and wanted to post my 1st post in this forum to say hello. I have done the obligatory intro post in the main forum. I am a proud new owner of a new-to-me 2007 Jaguar XK-R convertible. I am new to Jaguar and have never really thought of owning one as I am(was) mainly a BMW/Porsche guy. I was in the market for a replacement to my aging Porsche 996 convertible and was looking hard at an E63/E64 M6 convertible and actually was ready to pull the trigger on one but started to get cold feet after reading up on all the hassle of owning an M6 like very poor mpg, SMG reliability, not a comfortable daily driver, and debatable looks/styling. I then looked at alternatives and somehow came across this one-owner XKR and kinda of fell in love with the looks.
Needless to say, I decided to go for the Jag so I flew down to Los Angeles and drove the car back to Seattle this past weekend. The car is definitely a grand tourer as it made my 1200 mile road trip comfortable and fun!
I hope to have pictures up soon! I also hope to learn a lot from this community and contribute back as much as I can.
Regards,
Thomas

Welcome aboard. This is a great forum for a wonderful series of cats. In addition to having a new (to you) terrific drive you will now get to enjoy the forum.
Suggestions: 07's are notorious for the duck bill drain pipe used for draining AC condensate. Check to see if your car has been modified for this issue there are numerous threads on the forum. Another problem is that the leather dash tends to dry out and shrink if not properly cared for. There are threads here for that issue as well. Lastly Suggest you by a Ctek or other brand battery tender. Due to all of the electronics in the car they tend to chew through batteries if not driven every day. A Ctek can be had for around $60 on Amazon or Ebay and is a simple solution. The way to tell if your battery is causing problems is that the electrical system will begin to malfunction in many different and unconnected ways. There are also several threads on this issue.
You have bought a great GT and have many hours/days/months/years of enjoyment ahead of you with few problems other than those mentioned above. Please get some pics posted

Thanks for the info Ralphwg. Yep, I have the notorious AC draining issue. Thanks to this forum, I was aware of it and identified the problem when the owner told me that the HVAC system is not working. I knew the fan motor is shorted due to water overflowing into it and onto the passenger footwell.
I plan to tackle fixing the issue myself but have not decided on which method to do yet. I would think dropping the transmission and cutting the duckbill is easier than taking the dash apart. I am not planning to do the easier putting in a "second" drain route. I have also seen some suggestion of removing and going through the instrument panel side... has anyone done this method themselves?

Smart of you to have researched this forum about your car before your purchase. You'll find this forum and it's members invaluable. Congratulations. That must have been a real nice drive back home to Seattle. Nothing like driving a newly purchased Jag home. Don't forget to post some pictures.
I read some clever ways to deal with the A/C issue of your car on this forum. I can't remember the thread. Search this forum up and down, and side to side and I'm sure you'll find a fix you'll be happy with.
