Performance seats
 

For those who have either sat in or purchased a car with performance seats (looking at a 2012) what is your opinion of them. It looks like they are only heated and not cooled and they appear to not be as cushier as the standard seats.How are they for say a 4 hour drive and how are they in the summer. The style looks sharp but I am wondering how comfortable they are compared to the standard seats.

Regular Jaguar seating with electric seat controls are the way to go. I like the bolstering and comfortability vs performance seats which I have had in the past.
The performance is much more of a racing type ride.

I am sure that many owners may have a different opinion however.

I have the performance style seats in my Xkr-s and like them. They have excellent support and are firm, but comfortable and they really make the interior look much sportier. I have never had any passengers complain- they all have had positive comments

I just recently bought an XKR-S and am only on my third tank. The seats are comfortable and have many adjustment possibilities. I am six feet but my upper body is taller than with most. I sit very tall, the head rest bolster is a little uncomfortable for me and not adjustable. It reaches to the bottom off my neck and I can fill it on the vertebrae that sticks out just a bit right at the top of your shoulders. This may just be an issue for somebody who has a tall upper body or is over 6 feet tall. I also have very wide shoulders and the seat is very comfortable from the side bolsters.
The Porsche sport seats where always too narrow for me and I could never really adjust the bolsters inward to give more hold there. Also the lumbar support in Porsches was not good and my lower back hurt after longer drives, maybe because the suspension was stiffer also, who knows.
I had a 2006 Cayman S turbo charged with GT3 RS seats in mine and finishing a tank on a trip left you beat up. Driving a whole day and you would feel tight into the next day.

The Jaguar performance seat have a much better lumbar pillow with more adjustability. Driving a tank empty was a breeze and the seat felt great.

I especially love the new diamond stitch option below.

The regular seats can hold you in very tightly and have a crazy amount of adjust-ability. The side bolsters are amazing. The racing seats do look really cool though :P

I only tried the performance seats during my test drive of the F-type. I had no idea at the time what the cost might be but, still declared that those seats were a MUST for my next purchase.

The performance seats not being cooled was a deal killer for me for here in the Houston heat when I bought my '13 XKR. Very happy with the comfort, support, and adjustability of the standard seats and Jaguar's active ventilation works great!

Quick question - I have seen in other thread that it is a simple plug and play / bolt in and out to convert comfort seats to performance seats?

If I buy a seat without a mounting bracket can I retrofit the other one from my comfort seat? Are they the same?

By The looks of things post 2010 should be fine its the 07-09 (4.2) that will need to have the harness modified and modules swapped over .

What seats are they I did see a few xkrs varieties available on eBay

I have the performance seats in my 2013 XKR, and I'm very happy with them. They can really hug you if you adjust them that way, and very comfortable in my opinion.

Also, I fell in love with the two tone color scheme. That was one of the things that contributed to my impulsive purchase of this car...lol. I've actually never sat in the regular XKR seats, so I don't have a comparison point. Some pics are below.

Weirdly the Jaguar print-off shows mine as an XKR-S, when I asked them why, they advised the system didn't have the required number of characters!

I can fully appreciate that in warmer climes ventilated seats are required, but in good old blighty (where it rarely goes above 75f) I've never felt the need to cool my @rse in 39yrs of driving

I'm exactly opposite of Marky.... while driving around with the top down, the glorious sun beating down onto me, temps around 100F (38C), the breeze wafting around.... Yeah, cooled seats do help a bit. I'd not change to the Sport Seats for that reason alone.

Agree. The R convertible's ventilated seats greatly enhance summer-top down driving enjoyment. The standard seats are also very comfortable and supportive. To my eye, they go better with the GT nature of the XKR and the 'not-overly-sports-car' interior design. I can see the sport seats in the R-S and up models. Certainly look at home in the F-Type
