Is it possible to swap the radio of an us model XKR with an european one
Hello dear forum members,
I am from Germany and have an US Model of the XKR V8 510 hp from 2010. That ´s why the radio plays only the odd channels. With the previous model, I have read, you can change the radio to Europe. Does that go with the "newer" too. Or. Can I just swap the radio with an European radio from Ebay? Since fit the plug or fits it together or only certain serial numbers, etc.? Also fit the radios of the XF. What do I need to pay attention for? The Jaguar dealer did not feel able to find out or just did not want to ... Thank you very much for your help. Christian from Germany

Christian it may well be something that can can be done by the dealer as they may well be Tuetonically (?) efficient But I'd not hold my breath.
Frequency intervals in Europe are 50 kHz as opposed to 200 kHz in USA. Starting frequency in Europe is 87.5 MHz compared with 87.9 MHz stateside
Yes a straight swap will work, but as the unit is integrated it will be mightily expensive, my first port of call would be a high end car radio specialist that deals with imports, they may be able to expand the bandwidth with a gizmo
I did chuckle a little at British car made for USA market imported to Germany...sounds like D Day all over again!

Looking on Ebay, both in the UK and in the US, the same part number comes up for the unit: 7G9N-18C815-TA, so I may well be configurable. I would try and dig a bit deeper.
Fitting an alternative one will probably need configuring as these parts may wel be coded into the system. Sorry for being vague but I hope it helps you to look in the right direction. An Email to Jaguar UK might give you more concrete help.

Oh, sorry. I thought it was funny that you actually expected "iphone" to be something........... well.......... usable.
Ignore me, I'm on drugs right now for my back.

swap the US Radio in an european one
Thanks for the quick responses. Thanks for the part number: 7G9N-18C815-TA Is that the part number for the US radio or for the German / European counterpart ??? If I had this number, I would buy a used radio on ebay. For the part number 7G9N-18C815-TA, there are many between 80 and 300 euros. I also wrote an e-mail to Jaguar UK. But if I knew, which part number has the "German" suitable radio, everything would be great. Yes, it's funny: from the island to US and then to Germany. Chris

Yes the radio frequency region is defined in the CCF, swapping the radio won't make any difference, they are the same hardware regardless of country/region.
I don't think a dealer could change it, it would be one of the locked out settings.
Not sure where you are in Germany, but these guys could change it www.jaguar-codierung.de

Thanks Cambo and u102768 for the great tip, I think that's the solution. I had contact with the boys of jaguar codierung de. From time to time they also drive through Germany to various customers. Then they will come over with me. Then they can recode the garage door opener built into the mirror and perhaps retrofit a reversing camera. Thanks again for your help. By the way, the jaguar dealers I phoned did not even call back. Also Jaguar UK did not answer my mail. chris
