Default A pretty cool story

I took my grandson to a local car show last Saturday and as I pulled my 2008 XK into the parking lot, the parking lot attendent stopped me and told me I could not park in that lot. I asked why, and he replied, "all show cars must enter through that driveway over there".

I told the man I was not showing my car. He looked at me rather incredulously and exclaimed "You gotta show this car!"

After several minutes of this guy trying to talk me into it, I figured "what the hell", paid my $10.00 entry fee, and was promptly guided to a parking spot between a cherry red 65 Ford Fairlane and a 70 Nova with a Corvette running gear to include fully blown twin turbos (nice).

The show had about 150-200 cars total, everything from Model "T"s to one of a kind NASCAR pace cars. At one point about a half dozen show judges were gathered around the XK sharing their appreciation for the sheer beauty of the beast...

In the end, the Jag did not win any of the awards (really didn't it expect to), but we spent a nice afternoon in the sun, fielding questions from scores of folks, most of which have never seen a Jaguar XK. Everyone that came by shared how much they loved the car.

As for me, I left the show with an idea of what the red carpet at Pebble Beach must feel like.

All-in-all, a very, very cool afternoon...

But not as cool an afternoon as your grandson thought! I'm sure he was blown away by being in the car show with your XK!

Here's to grandkids!

Great story, I took my old NSX to a few car shows for the grins of it and actually got 2 second place ribbons. The first was the first Concours de elegance speed classic at Hilton Head and the second was the savannah historic races car show. I mainly went to hang out with some buddies but the people were fun to talk to. I look forward to taking the Jaguar next time. It's nice to have people say nice things about your car. I have always been nice about letting kids sit in the car as I remember a Ferrari guy letting me do the same when I was a kid.

That is a very cool story--all I can think of is:
Cost of entry: $10
Experience with your grandson: Priceless!

Unfortunately my grandson did not get to spend alot of time with me that day (his dad had to take him home), but I will tell you that like his grand-pa, Patrick is a genuine "Car Guy". He loves anything with wheels, has a massave collection of toy cars and trucks, and in fact, the very first word he ever spoke was "car"

and I will tell you he loves his grand-pa's Jag the best...

Nice, a very special bond you've got going on with him and no doubt will last a lifetime (both yours and his)
