Proper burnout method for 4.2 XKR
So I am due for new rear tires soon but first I would like to smoke the crap out of the old ones.
I tried the other day, holding down the brake, and just reving up. But for some reason the RPMs would automatically drop as if the computer was not letting me.
You guys know how to properly burnout on the 4.2 XKR? Should I remove the fuse for traction control? Thoughts??

To totally disconnect the Anti Skid, you must Hold Down the DSC button for longer than ten seconds. "DSC OFF" will appear in the center of the dash. Be Careful! The thing will get squirrely.
4.2 not so much, maybe on a corner if you hit it but its not like you stand on it and it shoots you onto a pole, will do a little spin but thats about it. Tires will usually grip pretty fast.
If you want to burn them off go to an empty parking lot turn your wheels and crank it, will spin for days. No guarantee that your steering will not blow a line but it will smoke those tires.

I was talking about smokin' the snot out of the rears, not 'normal' driving. However, with Trac OFF, you can EASILY smash into trees, poles and slow pedestrians. These cars can get sideways in a hurry.
Yes, it will continue to do the spinny-spinnys until the car reaches traction, but it can get a bit sideways when it finally grabs. Be ready for it, and have enough room for some corrections. The first time I did it right after I bought my XKR I was on a narrow road with a ditch on each side. When I finally got traction the rear end shook the whole car and got be a bit twisted on the shoulder, such as it was. It happens a lot when warming up tires before a 1/4-mile run. I'll find an example...

You just need a tune. Before the tune I could barely chirp the tires, now even with wider and stickier tires I can light them up with not applying brakes at all

Right turn up a hill I was in 4th gear and doing one he'll of a job destroying the ozone layer when I let off the gas. It was retarded 200+ft and it was still shredding the tires. Note: shut windows. The Sherrif was not near as impressed as I was. Received an unreasonable acceleration ticket. Viewed it like a badge of honor. New tires next day.
