Pulling Fuse on DSC?
 

On a 2007 XK, Would pulling the fuse #F3 in engine compartment fuse box totally disconnect the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control)?
Any adverse a effects besides you controlling your wheel spin manually. With spirited driving I can still feel the engine cutting out when I want to go faster, even with the DSC button pushed down for 10 seconds and indicater illuminating on dash. Does this also, disconnect the ABS?

From reading the workshop manual, it appears that DSC is controlled by the ABS module. So, yes, I expect you'll lose ABS.

Not sure about the hesitation you're experiencing - it may be the ECU or the TCM acting to proven over-revving of the engine when the wheels spin up. The XK has a lot of systems to prevent you doing damage to the car (e.g. the TCU will tell the ECU to back off if too much torque is being fed into the torque converter).

Thanks guys. This traction control is not letting me have any wheelspin at all. Plenty of power just no wheelspin, so i'm thinking it's on all the time. The 2007 XK only has the DSC button. No traction control button to turn off. Any other ideas?

According to the wiring diagram F3 is also one of the power inputs to the ECM so non working ABS may be the least of your worries!

Understood - "DSC Off" means traction control off. It may also switch off Active Yaw Control and Braking in Curve Stability, I'm not sure. But if you are not getting any wheelspin with DSC off, that would suggest either you have phenomenal traction, or DSC is still active. My car is difficult to drive with DSC off - the tyres light up with even moderate throttle.

It's worth noting that "If a fault is detected with the Dynamic Stability Control switch, the ABS module defaults to the 'DSC ON' setting and any switch requests are ignored." Perhaps you have a dud switch. However, you are getting the warning light on the dash, which suggests otherwise.

Can you do donuts??? You should be able to do big smoking flaming donuts with the DSC completely off (10 seconds button press, etc.).

Doesn't sound right. Holding the button down for 10 seconds should disable all systems. The only thing is still active the ECU protecting the engine from over-revs.


Last time I disabled the DSC, I was going sideways.


When you hold the button down for 10 seconds, does the cluster read DSC OFF?

Yes with DSC turned off I cannot get any wheels spin. Example: stop sign full left turn ,stomp on it....just hook up with occasional engine cutting out keeping revs down. It's like it's still on for some reason. Keep in mind it's just a regular XK without supercharger. I believe I have slightly oversized (295) tires on rear the in 20"

What about on something like grass? You should have no problem spinning the wheels on that.

Maybe the combination of lower torque and big rubber is the thing; you have the same rear profile as my 75, which has far more torque. My 4.0 XK8 (<300 BHP) would spin its wheels in the wet with traction control off, but I could normally just plant boot in the dry without having any ABS activation.

Update:
Tried it again this morning, pressed and held the dsc button while rolling shifter in sport mode for like. 20 seconds saw indicater light come on dash and words "dsc off". Then released button. Floored it at next stop sign and laid a nice smoking patch!
So maybe the shifter has to be in sport mode first ?

So Executive, how long will the DSC stay off after holding for 10 seconds and getting dash indicator??

Dsc will remain off until car is restarted

tried it once (unintentionally) in the desert. My wife drove the car just off the tarmac.. and stuck we were.. did not do anything with DSC or other component. but by the time we got out, the dash looked like Christmas until we powered off.


Never got burning rubber though.. never tried is also.. tires are expensive here.. and the average temperatures of 30degrees make sure the tires are glued to the tarmac..

Or until you press & release the DSC button again.
