Thanks Cee Jay...I haven't done much Googling yet, this looks like a good find. Am searching my area now.
For the most part, with some exceptions, sure, bolts are bolts. They may not have the same exact head on them but finding the proper thread and pitch is pretty easy. Most hardware stores have that little board you can take another one in there and find what you need. Looks like you have another one right there to take to use to test with.
This is another great example of why all Jaguar owners should get and install JPART!
If you want the correct part that's the place to start.
Diagram from JPART. Note item #9. Part #AJ812148 about $2 each from Jaguar. Yes that's a lot for one bolt.

When I see things like this it usually points to poor quality repairs and I hope your not missing even more stuff when you look closely.

Tha@clubairth1 . Unfortunately, this is self-inflicted. I am relatively certain I dropped this into the lower cowl. I just wanted to replace the bolt rather than go looking only to find out it fell out after hitting a bump.
I have zero knowledge of jpart- is that downloadable? Up to now I’ve relied on the various websites and the repair manual.
I think you still have to install the original JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog) but it no longer works because flash player has been discontinued. The new web version uses the parts and pics from the old version. The link above to the new version is under GENERAL TECH HELP. A search will get you to the old version too. Worth the effort imo.
Yes thank you for linking the JPART thread.
I have also been uploading the compressed archive for JEPC18 that is used with JPART.
Trying to keep it alive so I have uploaded it several times.

@Sean W Thank you for this. I am reading it now, but I think I may be out of luck (I am an IOS user, not PC). Still, this may be worth dusting off an old laptop for the download.
I bought this from Amazon and it's one of those things where you wonder why you waited so long to buy. It's come in handy so many times. There's a larger set on Amazon, too. Get the size and style of head and order several instead of $2 or 3 bucks each from Jag.
When I want to use actual GOOD hardware, I always use ARP fasteners. That's what I have in my high performance stuff.
On the Jaguar, whatever fits and isn't crap does just fine. I do match within an area though.

Perhaps not worth it exclusively for JPart, but just good to know it is available in general, if you were not already aware.
