We took a trip back to NZ in late September, and would not be back for a month. Given what we know about XK batteries, I was worried that I'd get back to a dead car - or at least one that wouldn't start, or would give me lots of phantom alerts. I have a Tracker fitted, which is an extra drain over & above the normal 30 mA or so that the car takes.

Before we left, I charged the battery with a trickle charger so that it was reasonably fully charged. I then connected my 4.8W solar panel, which theoretically puts out 400 mA in full sunlight, but it doesn’t get that where I park so is probably producing substantially less. I’ve used the panel before, but not for such a long period.

When I got back, I opened the tailgate, disconnected the panel, jumped in & started the car. Caught first time, no warnings, no fuss. Colour me a happy bunny!
