Road noise - Dunlop Tires
Bought a used 07 XK recently. Tires were the Dunlop that originally came on the car. There was a lot of road noise from the front tires. Had dealer look at the car and they said that the car needed an alignment, and needed new tires as the old ones had some wear patterns that was causing the noise. They recommended replacing the tires with the same models. Research on tirerack and other places indicated that these tires were known for their road noise after 15k miles. The factory tires are also summer tires - not good for wet/snow conditions. Bought some Continental ExtremeContact DWS online - they were highly rated by reviewers online and are all weather tires. Now very quiet - problem solved.

I have run the dunlops, goodyears, michelins but no continental. By far the Michelins are the best of what I have run...at least the Pilot PS2 Mchelins....was not near as happy with the Pilot all seasons (a different tire all together from PS2)...the PS2's are just unbelievable for roadholding (in all conditions including wet) and as just unbelievable in cost I might add...

Yes the Dunlops are loud I hate them, was surprised that's what came with the car, I think they are great for trucks but not passenger vehicles. Once these are done I too will go with the Continentals, even though I have always liked Pirelli's. Bridgestone Blizzaks for the winter, though ... all bets on noise and feel are off until springtime!
