Seat swap possible?

My drivers seat base is very well used and the leather is a little stretched. It actually makes the ride comfy because it takes up some of the bumps, and I think it is more comfy than the passenger seat.

But I was thinking that it might be good to swap the seat bases over so that the further wear is minimised. The seat bases seem to be identical if they can be pulled out of the plastic housing. Anyone done that?

Rather than disassemble both seats, why not have an upholstery shop fit a cover over the driver's seat bottom to further minimise wear?

Good point but the seat when it is stretched is so comfy I wanted that for my wife.

I don't think this is rocket science; and I don't think Jaguar dealerships have practical experience in seat cushion swaps. You could dig around with Jaguar parts catalog'fiche and try to determine the part numbers for the seat cushions. Obviously, if the part numbers are identical, then a swap is possible. But even if the part numbers are not identical, don't give up as the seat cushions may still be swapped with a little imagination.

It is not difficult to remove the seats - just four fasteners hold each seat; and a complicated electrical plug.

I would remove both seats and put them on a workbench, examining them closely. You may be able to puzzle out how to remove the seat cushion, and then compare them side-by-side. Both cushions should have heating elements, so there should be some sort of electrical connection. The cushions should use the same wiring harness, but this is Jaguar.... A shop manual will help some, but don't expect direct information on this kind of swap.

There is a saying some of my American friends are fond of using that may apply here: 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'...
