Should I be deterred from buying high mileage XKRS?

As noted above, sometimes the mileage is done in a long commute which is pretty easy on the car. I bought a 2011 XKR in the beginning of 2014 which had 40,000km on it, so 20,000km a year which is a lot more than I'd ever do. But I think they were from someone driving it probably 500km a week to and from work.

Aside from some stretching to the driver's seat leather (which made the seat more comfy) and the need for a really good claying to the car which brought the exterior back to pretty much showroom condition (a few stonechips aside) it was mechanically perfect. I put another 20,000km on it over the next 2 years without any problems save an active headlamp module going.

Stone chips and sand blasting will likely be an issue if it's all highway miles...

Yes, I didnt clay it for about a year after I owned it and I could always feel a "rough" patch on the front quarter panels even after it was waxed. I hit it with a clay bar and some of the iron remover and the amount of **** that came off was just amazing. After that the car was perfect (stone chips aside) and actually looked a slightly lighter colour though that was probably the wax catching the light.

My wife did a similar paint correction on my newly acquired 2010 with high miles and it was truly amazing how well it looks now. Unfortunately it highlights the incorrect paint match on the recently painted front and rear bumper covers, which was I assume done due to the "road rash" from all the highway miles. I talked at length with the previous owner and she racked up lots of miles making trips from Tampa to Atlanta sometimes on a weekly basis. So it all makes sense. Just wish they had gotten the paint a little closer match. Oh well, my Speed Pack Spoilers and RS Side Skirts arriving tomorrow have to be painted any way, no biggie to pull the bumper covers and do it all at once.

Well gentlemen... I pulled up a Carfax report on her.
Accident /writeoff to the tune of $20k damage.
I will pass on this car!
If I could just find an XK-R in this prove range, I'd be more than happy!

Since you may be looking for other XKs, here is a sweet XK, yes I know not an RS or R, but it seems like a great deal. A 2014 XK with only 6980 miles on it, asking price is $39k.

I met the owner a few weeks ago and he offered me a drive, it is VERY nice and is exactly what a 6900 mile XK should drive and feel like. First N/A 5.0L XK I have driven and I was pleasantly surprised.

No affiliation other than meeting the owner about something else and getting to drive his XK. Seems like a very straight up guy.

Dont settle for an XKR when you can have a R-S. Such a big difference.

I have to say I don't feel like I settled at all with my XKR, yes I know of the differences between the R and R-S but if the OP is like me and is someone that never intends on tracking the car, he probably wont miss the differences anyway. In that case it comes down to styling between the two, I know everyone is different and has their own opinion, but I wouldn't buy and R-S just off of looks alone. Just doesn't do it for me...

I don't like the Catfish mouth on the S, I also understand that the vented seats also are a no-go. A harsher ride is imminent. THEN you add in the $10,000+ extra on an old version and you lose some but gain 40 ponies. Not really a good trade, all considered.
For $3500 and some work I can get 120+ extra ponies doing what Mandrake did. I'll go his way.

Our cars are super hard to sell but easy to buy if anyone has the urgency. Be patient my friend. These cars are easier than you know to find. Patience......
