then there is no pleasing you😏. Seriously, you can trust the suction cup. Clearly the interior is a no go. So here’s a basis for you to work with. It can be done, but you wanna over engineer it for some reason.

Show me a picture of a car going at 80mph for 10k milese a year in nasty conditions or parked with skis in a box that is suction cupped on in a parking lot free for anyone to decide it fits on their car just fine. Seriously, not something that is worth even considering with thousands of dollars worth of equipment just a pop away from being someone elses. Using my 1980s baracrafter wndow mount right now offers more security. Your second pic looks a little longer but not as long as a rocket box. Had Jaguar actually engineered it right in the first place , I wouldn't need to try to over engineer it. LOL So by your tought process it is just as safe straping skis sideways on my Tiger and taking that. Been there and done that but it gets a little cold and I'm sure the blue men would frown upon it.

Perhaps the XK isn't the right car for your needs?

I traveled 6k miles back and forth with my Alfa 164LS and It was always happy at 90mph traveling from LA to Seattle with suction cup mounts and a 2 bikes racked up. Anyway, I think the XK is simply not fit for your needs. The XJR on the other hand, is a better option to work with.

Is that what you call a ski lock. Or is it an anti thief feature.

If you are serious on getting into an XK or XKR and want to be assured to be able to carry a "box" ski carrier capable to hold 4 sets of ski's then there is a sure fired way of doing it. That would be 1st finding a suitable roof rack that will hold the ski's you want to carry. Next would be to weld rails to the roof that this mount could be bolted to and attach the rack. It could be done in such a manner that when the rack is removed the rails would not be to noticeable or a detractor to the lines of the car. If clever enough it could also be used as a bike rack as well . It's just a matter of if you want it bad enough . If not then you know there are a lot of car/SUV options out there.

Looking at the facial structure I think that's more Great Dane vs Doberman Pinscher. If so, it'll lean and slobber on you vs. shred your face.

I have no dog in the suction cup fight though.

You only say that as you need to take the helicopeter to get to snow this year. Sorry about your lack.

A bike is not a big plastic sale. The XK fits my needs just fine, if Jag had a clue about what to make available. I have an XJR (the last of the real ones) and will not be buying anything newer with the uninspired styled by pep boys junk Jag has put out as of late. Guess maybe I should buy a Audi, BMW or Mercedes. They make arrangements for people who use their cars, not just to the local coffee shop. Seriously, there has to be a way. The suggestion to weld a rack on is simply the dumbest thing I've heard since a drunk guy said "hey watch this". LOL

A bit of an exaggeration, all the Olympic hills are within one a hour drive......BUT!!!.. the only snow on the ground near here is in the mountains, and they only have a 60" base. Snow in the valley is non-existent this year, literally. The only stuck-snow this season was 3" on December 24th. It was gone by the 26th. There has NEVER been this little snow here since dinosaurs roamed the land. Climate change a hoax???? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!

FedEx? Seriously, the forum has given you feedback and you've declined to accept any ideas. Seems like there's no point in continuing this thread.

Witness now the turning point of this thread, where the OP has been outed as an askhole and the pack begins to turn on the newcomer.

Will the thread die? Will the OP valiantly defend their position? Will it turn into a name calling shitstorm? Eithe way it goes, the herd will be culled and balance will be restored.

Always up for a good culling.

This is me doing my part to keep the thread alive.

The one thing that never made sense to me, was that it costs more to ski downhill than to race a car. I don’t buy that for one bit. The fuel costs, and car prep makes costs climb. One thing that does sound right is, a box on top of the roof is essentially a sail that could definitely have the abilty of making a car suddenly change direction while climbing an icy road at 80mph. As for the theft deterrence, one could always lift weights, and wear tight tshirts. Be Alpha.

No need to defend anything, but as a long time member of the site I must say this forum is filled with quite a few askholes with a second s and no k. So sad.
