Default Soon-to-be new owner - 09 Portfolio

I have a deposit on this car and hope to soon take delivery. Its has new tires, but I've never bought a used car without having to deal with some issues pop up after the purchase. I've had it inspected and it came through with flying colors…but what can I expect to go at 19,000 miles. Cat converters? Brakes? Rotors? etc...

Good luck and just drive it. Don't worry about it breaking. Enjoy

I have a 12 xk vert. So I can't directly address your question. But, as far as I know the major ongoing issue with 09s and all xks deals with the battery. These vehicles are loaded with much electronics; so there is an ongoing drain on the battery. To avoid the battery issue it is highly recommended that you acquire a battery minder such as a C-Teck which can be purchased for around $60 -$70 on Amazon. Hook it up - it will take no more than 15 - 20 minutes and connect it to your xk when you are done using it for the day. This will keep your battery charged up and eliminate a lot of electrical gremlins.
The C-teck is so good that both Jaguar and Porsche have private label versions in their accessory catalogs.

Other than that, suggest that you do a search regarding troublesome issues on this forum. By the way you will find that the forum members are good people and you will garner much usable information on it. Congratulations and enjoy your new cat.

Thanks for the quick replies. Oh, I plan to enjoy driving her!… and she's going to look good parked next to my '64.

Happy New Year!

Marco:

I have the 2009 KXR PE Convert.......with 16,500 miles. I see your buying from Texas Direct. My 2009 has been flawless and it is fast.

You will love. I have had no problems. What options does the PE have on it?

Hi Rich,

I thought PE's were pretty much loaded up with options, but I noticed another post here regarding brakes and such. I know this has the standard black calipers with the "R" on it. Other than that, the car had everything I wanted…love the color, wood trim and wheels. I think it a gorgeous car and whatever reviews I can find on the web were all pretty good, so I had to go for it.

Nice ride and the new one will look good. Takes me back to my 66 coupe days of my youth.

Marco:

Quite honestly be glad you don't have the Alcon rotors and calipers. The Alcon's are very expensive to replace, brake rotors are very expensive due to the large size.

So if the price was right, you bought yourself a rare, very low production Jaguar model.

Enjoy.

Those are some really sharp race cars you have there Rich! Very nice.

I was able to knock down the price a little, but it's certainly not wholesale. Someone sold it cheaper to them to sell to me…but when is the next time I'll find that model with that many miles. It's within my budget so I'm happy. Good to know about the brakes… I like working on the cars myself. And though I know this is no e-type (I haven't had to bring mine to a mechanic in over 20 years now), the little bit of maintenance I can do like changing pads and oil is one less day I need to drop it off for service.

Marco75,

Congrats on your new ride! I hope you enjoy it as much as Richzak and I have enjoyed ours. Your car is rare, particularly since it has the optional Adaptive Cruise Control as shown on the right side of your steering wheel. Most 2009 Portfolios don't have ACC. The thumb wheel on the far right is the ACC:

My car is below. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge it.

Thanks for that bit of info! Your car is stunning. I've been scanning through cars for sale for over a year on a daily basis, looking for a lunar gray coupe, but the shadow gray on these editions is a even nicer. I like your pedals... those are optional or aftermarket?

Beautiful car...Enjoy it. I too am partial to Coupes and that makes your car even rarer! Nice that you have the low miles too.

Default Pedal Covers: Plan A or Plan B?

Marco75,

The accelerator and brake pedal covers were standard equipment on the 2009 XKR Portfolio. I had the dead pedal/footrest custom made with slots and the "R" logo to match the OEM pedals. Here's the link: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-order-88734/. Interesting history, worth reading, not cheap - over $100 just for the footrest. Would I do it again? Probably not - read on...

Above is Plan A. Plan B is below. Your choice.

I recently added a full set of 3 pedal covers to my 2013 XJ SC at a BARGAIN price of only $26.80! NOT a typo! They should also fit the 2007-up XK/XKR. The pedal covers far exceeded my expectations. Sure, they're not OEM, but who would know? They sure look like they could be OEM:

See my post on the XJ Forum: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...covers-130871/ The price went up from $26.80 to $26.99, but still a real bargain. You just have to be patient for them to arrive from China. Here's the current eBay link:Automatic Fuel Brake Foot Rest Pedals Foot Pedal Cover for Jaguar Series | eBay

Default Delivery at last

My car finally arrived yesterday… just in time before we get hit with 20 - 30 inches of snow today. Looks like I have some garage time with her. There was an issue with the center console. The truck driver told me the top was lifting when he shifted gears. Ended up that some one was tampering with it because there are little chips to the trim where some one was trying to pry it off... and they also left indentation marks on the leather border. Ended up the mounting screws to the shift assembly were missing and the back corner clip for the wood trim was broken. So I'm going to have to complain to the dealer and see why my 3rd party inspector didn't notice this.

Sounds like someone tried to steal parts while the car was in transit, but were interrupted before they got away with them. You may need to file a claim against the shipper.

The shipping company was very cooperative about reporting the damage on the Bill of Lading. I notified the dealer, Texas Direct Auto and the Lemon Squad who did the PPI, so I'll see how this plays out.
