Stock exhaust , do they sound different
There seems to be many threads on aftermarket exhausts but I was wondering what the differences were with the factory systems. More specifically does the 5.0L XKR with the performance exhaust sound any different then the 5.0L XKR-S . Does the 40HP and what ever ECM changes make the exhaust note ant different. Other then hearing an R-S on youtube I can't tell if there is a difference from my XKR. During my F-Type test drive with a R I couldn't tell if there was much of a difference during acceleration but could hear the difference in de-acceleration. I guess the only way would to be using a decibel meter to hear the difference.
The PAE option is the same exhaust (with the crossover) that is fitted to the R-S. I doubt there are any differences in timbre or volume caused by the different fuel map that the R-S has, though if it allows more fuel to flow on overrun, you might get some more pops & bangs.
There are a TON of pops and bangs in my XKR now that I have the Stage 3 spires. Its awwwwwesome. For those with non-performance active system the stage 3(X pipe and rear bladder) is worthwhile. For those with PAE the stage 2 (just the rear bladder) is also worthwhile if you want more snap/crackle/pop!
