Surprised at No Gauges
It's too bad that there are no water temp, volt or amp, not to mention oil pressure gauges in the 2011 XKR. It does have TWO clocks though. Sure would be nice if there was at least one gauge between the spedo and tach like the gas gauge instead of that clock. I know there are ways to get an app for gauges in the nav. screen but I'm not going there. I am in love with this car though.

It is a different driving experience.
In the Jaguar I tend to take in the world around me more than when driving my other cars. |
Another solution, and probably the easiest and least expensive.
I use an inexpensive ($20) Bluetooth ELM 327 OBDII code reader and the free Torque App on my ancient Samsung Droid Incredible smartphone to wirelessly display virtual temperature and voltage gauges. Here it is in my XJ: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...1d27552151.jpg |

Guys here is a solution some of you will find much better than factory gauges.
It mounts under the dash and out of view. Its meant to be heard not seen.... That's what makes it better- you can set the threshold for the alarm..On both Temp and Volts. Personally I think it looks a monstrosity conceived and designed by someone with a Mary Shelley complex, that'll never see the inside of my XK for sure, the only things I miss are: 1) Coolant temp 2) A proper dipstick 3) Getting the external temp to display in my central display (between the two dials) less than 5c and I'll take it easy All the rest of the info is, IM (not so H)O, superfluous |
Marky, I agree on the looks. If I had one, I would keep it out of sight and rely on the alarms. I think that's what Q&C was referencing. So the sound version of an idiot light which, let's face it, that's all most want or need. I wondered myself how loud the alarms are and whether this could rest in the glove box.

Sean they claim 30db. The threshold for the alarm values must be user defined, as most guys using this were using it as an audible speedlimit reminder.
My thoughts exactly on the BT. Damn fed up of pairing issues. I know lots of you guys have had perfect luck with BT, but I have a ziplock bag full of unreliable BT readers. So it works better than 'Torque' just as a reliable ODB2 reader. It can go under the dash, under the seat velcroed, in the armrest. |

It eliminates monitoring entirely. Voltage and oil pressure is very useful, especially in this car. |

Does anyone know if the alarm points are adjustable? It seemed to indicate not but that is somewhat hard to determine from their information. The fixed metric readout is not a problem since I would tuck it away out of sight, but alarm flexibility is critical.

The identical item is available for less on the AliExpress website. Note that it's plugged into the OBDII port and where you can put it is limited by the length of the cable.

I states that the speed alarm default can be changed but does not indicate if that carries over for other functions. I'm ordering one & will find out how it works.....the price certainly isn't a killer. Setting-Warning: turn on/off the buzzer.-Speed Alarm: the default value is 150（the default value can be changed,push left is to decrease,push right is to increase). -Coolant alarmdefault value is 120°, it means this device will give alarm when Coolant temperature is over 120°. -RPM alarm: default value is 6000 r, it means this device will give alarm when RPM over 6000 r. -BAT Alarm: default value is 10.5V, it means this device will give alarm when battery voltage is lower than 10.5V. -Speed Adjust: adjust the speed according to the dashboard, default value is 107%. -Speed Offset: When the vehicle turns off,but the device speed is not 0, then adjust the device Speed Offset value, if the device speed shows 5KM/H, then change the device Speed Offset default value at 5. |

July 17, 2018 Verified Purchase 5 stars because it’s just what I needed. Factory coolant gauge is not real helpful, this gets a digital reading. Adjust speed for tire size and quick look at DTC codes and clear if necessary. Something in description made me think might not work on 98 Toyota 4Runner but it works great. Not military grade but 5 stars for value. I have it low on my steering column, light sensor faces shadow so I’d like it a little brighter but I like how it’s subtle. Bonus is alarm for speed limit and coolant temp. The little mounting pad is perfect. I tried a couple other ODB Bluetooth products to phone but nothin else was get in and go every time like this one is. Set it up and forget it. Instructions are not great but intuition got me set up. |
Yep, read the same. Thats why I opted to give it a try.
