switched out side marker and flasher bulbs for LED .Questions

Switched out the peanut bulbs for led also switched out the front flasher bulbs for led...getting into the head light I noticed the wire insulation had perished on some of the wires leaving them bare , I used electrical tape to fix the problem, Is this a common thing with Jags ? I guess I was lucky nothing shorted out as the bare wires were touching....Also I now have a warning light on the dash saying my flashers are out I thought If I replaced the flasher unit with a LED one this might solve the problem , does the 2007 xkr have a flasher unit and If so where about Is It ?, failing that I will have to use resistors .

PS the only hyper flashing I get Is the turn signal indicator on the dash ...turn signal's work fine .

Thanks for any input/advice .

Our jaguars are very current sensitive, so you'll need leds that are resister loaded (error free). Not heard of a LED flasher unit talked about here on the forum, so I suspect it doesn't exist.

I have just inserted one in my S11 as I went to LEDs for the flashers its a Hella 3040, the downside is that I have lost the warning click, mind you the cars so noisy I don’t always hear it anyway :)
Now I have to place a resistor in the positive line to earth for the brake lights as they flash for about 5-10 seconds before going steady, going for <>6 ohms, failed the Warrent of Fitness that we go through here in NZ. :(

I found a couple of old posts , apparently there Is no flasher unit on a 07 xkr Its built into the ecu , the clicking noise you hear from the turn signal on the dash Is a microphone . I put a couple of resistors on the rear flashers now all Is well .I also installed the jag oem gear shift knob , I cant believe the factory uses RED loctite a lot of heat and brute force I finely got the old one off , well worth the effort though the new one looks good .
Does anybody know where I might get the tapered lock thingy that sits under the gear knob ? I slipped with the mole grips and scratched It , I did a google search but had no luck .
