Think a shop screwed me?
So I dropped my mom's 07 XK convertible off at a shop in Dallas to have it worked on. They were only supposed to fix the top but when I got it back they added 10000 miles on it within a few weeks. What does this sound like to you guys? Did they swap my 20000 miles for a 30000 mile vehicles computer? Surely they didn't drive it 10000 miles in 3 weeks.

If you can prove the odometer readings when you dropped it off and picked it up, I suggest that you speak with a lawyer. You may have a civil case for damages for the diminished value caused by the unauthorized excessive use of your vehicle, and possibly a Federal criminal case. Sure, mechanics always test drive vehicles after they complete the work, but a 10,000 mile test drive? No way!
It is a felony under Federal law to tamper with an odometer, unless certain safeguards are met.
Don't let them take advantage of you.

Somehow I was under the impression that you couldn't just swap in a new dash pod as it would require extensive reprogramming by Jaguar. Is it possible to change the odometer mileage and if so why would they do it. The next quest is how would it be possible to put 10K miles on the car in 10 days unless they had a team of drivers. Something smells here and is this post truth or fiction.

Without knowing the work done this sounds like a fishing expedition...
There was a member who's cluster went tit's up and showed super high speeds when he was driving and the ODO followed suit. Not sure what the resolution ever was on that one. Dealer level repair regardless since the cluster is tied to the ECU by the VIN coding.

My vote is for the OP to not know how many miles were on the car when they dropped it off. Or the cluster getting changed from mi to km.

Many years ago during an 'argument' with my second wife (now deceased) I drove home alone from a disastrous two-week visit with her mother in Minnesota, back to Utah. A 1300 mile trip. I got home in 22 hours. I promptly got a call from wife begging me to go get her. SO........ another 1300 mile drive back to Minnesota to fetch her, no sleep. I did take a nap about 2/3s of the way back for a couple hours. THEN, pick her up and return AGAIN.
In just over three days, I logged just under 4,000 miles. Add the first trip UP there two weeks earlier and another 1300 miles.
What an idiot I was. For several reasons.
Oh, and that was in my old '95 Mustang GT. Course, it wasn't OLD at the time.
