Tire problem solved!
 
Okay...after a hell month at work that ended with finishing two projects that had me working 23 10 hour days straight, I went into my garage and discovered a bad problem with the Dunlop tires on my XKR. They had too effin much rubber on them and needed it removed immediately. 8 days and 2500 miles later, problem solved.

After hitting the web and making a couple reservations in historic bed and breakfasts, navigation began after I joined the highlighted route. Highway 1 up the California coast from just north of San Francisco. WOW! I love this freakin car! The curvy road definitely took care of "that tire problem". Continued Highway 101 along the Oregon coast, to Washington, around the tip of the Olympic peninsula to Port Townsend. Rain on the ferry to Whidbey Island, but who gives a shit, I'm having the time f my life. Ferry to Mukilteo, down into Seattle to visit friends. Highway 5 back into Oregon to Visit Mom and Dad for a couple days, and back home today.

NOTHING BROKE. Finally got to drive this thing like I was on a road racing course. I drove it with a reckless disregard for wear and tear and this care loved it and begged for more. If anybody out there has an XK or and XKR that is a garage queen like mine....DO IT!

ps. my 07 XKR now has 17500 miles on it.

liquid-chris,

A long trip in a Jaguar XKR as it was meant to be driven is more theraputic and cheaper than a psychiatrist! You said it: "I'm having the time of my life."

Both are very nice videos. The guy wiping the corners of his mouth at the end is priceless. Hey Ngarara.. so what did that thing feel like at 184? Ive only had mine to 135. I was very surprised how fast it got to 135, and it felt like I was doing 70.

Solid as a rock. It has the equivalent of the Dynamic Pack, so it has the Speed Pack bodykit, 10mm lowered suspension & 30% stiffer springs. It was absolutely stable - this was a relatively new autobahn with a very flat surface, but I also took it up to 180+ on an older one and it was still solid. It spools up to about 175 pretty fast, takes a bit longer to hit max-v. I found it was quicker in "D", because "S" held 5th too long past peak torque.

Of course, things can go wrong very quickly at those speeds. I had to jump on the brakes fairly hard when slower-moving traffic pulled into the fast lane (always Dutch, they don't have the Germans' situational awareness), and I'd hate to have a blowout. So it's not something I'd want to do every day.
