Default Touch screen video navigation center dead on starting - back after several hours

Default touch screen video navigation center dead on starting - back after several hours.. For 2009 XKR Convertible. OEM x150 original factory equipment.

Touch screen control center is dead on starting comes back after several hours rest. then works for several weeks and it happens again. 2-3 weeks later for last two years.

This happened after the console was taken out with dash to check why AM FM wasn't working so they pulled dash. before putting new system they found the antenna had gotten disconnected and once connected the radio worked fine SO

They put it all back together and thats when the intermittent dying of the control video panel started. They thought maybe the software reprograming would fix it but it still happens after reprograming. they can't change whole system till it completely stops working.

I think it just might be a loose connection or circuit board.

Any Ideas on what to do to have this resolved? When its out I can't use navigation or handsfree phone or entertainment center etc.

Thanks,
Richard, 2009 XKR Conv.

If my 2008 sits for awhile, I experience the same issue. I find that if I restart the car, a few times, it seems to reset. Like yourself, I hope someone on the Forum has a more definitive response.

Check the voltage across your battery with the engine off for at least 8 hours. If it is under 12.25 volts your battery is probably on its way out. It definitely can cause these problems and it should be eliminated as a variable before any other repair work is done. Just read the dozens of threads here on battery issues.

Thank you White XKR,

I think I've been ignoring that because the car starts up fine here in California w/o much cranking. Yet now that I think about it I have had other odd problems that pop up that could indicate battery The whole car would lock up and seem completely dead and when I get my wife to bring jumper cables before I'd hook them up every thing started working again.

So I think its been good enough to fool me and keeps causing the problems.

I'm off to get a battery.

Thanks so much.

I've had my screen crash a few times because of a dodgy files on a USB. Like it locks up, completely dies and goes black, then restarts through the "R" screen etc. I deleted the files from the USB and it was fine. Not the same issue, but I thought to mention.
