Trim fastener removal - RESOLVED

Anyone know the secret in removing this style of trim fastener. Trim panel is situated above the brake pedal. I've tried prying out but it will break before detaching and tried pushing in on the center piece but it doesn't move?

Are you using a removal fork/prong tool? If so, pull harder and replace it if it breaks. Then show it who's the boss by saying 'I win' as you throw it in the bin.

You sure it isn't already broken? Looks like the base part of a push button trim clip, with the push button broken off -- the bit in the center is the remains of the push button shaft.

+1

This type of trim clip:

The centre pin pushes in to LOCK and pulls out to UNLOCK. The clip is then pulled out with a forked trim tool.

To get it out, heat up the tip of a small long screw with a lighter. Then "screw" it into that center pin about 1/2 to 1 turn. It'll melt the plastic while it's getting screwed in. Let it cool and then pop it out.

YMMV, worked for me.

So after looking at the passenger side and JEPC I can see the po must have removed and replaced the trim panel with non Jaguar plastic trim fasteners. Well I managed to lever them out and as you can see they are xmas tree fasteners. Wanted to close out this thread with a solution should someone else find these installed.
