Vanity Plate for my new XKR
 

Hey folks. As I mentioned in my previous post a 2003 XKR did find it's way back to my home. I got it titled in my name this morning, and decided to lean into the optics of this car and get a vanity plate for my first time ever. I say that because I'm a 40's something male getting a convertible sports car, it sort of already screams mid life crisis, so why not go full out and get the other thing that does that, a vanity plate. I don't feel that this is why I made this purchase, but I do know how it looks.

Here is where I could use a bit of help, the classy generic "JAG","XKR", or even "JAG XKR" plates are already taken, and I don't want to just do something that includes my name, or initials. So I'm having to come up with something else to use. WI luckily has a fun web page to do this here and I came up with I few ideas by using it already. (7 characters including a space)

I like the idea of being a bit cheesy or witty, it just makes it more of that stereotype vanity plate. And that's what this car is meant to be, a bit of fun. So any other great ideas that I'm missing, and are available? What about my choices so far, any that make you smile? I'm also using this as a way to keep track of my own ideas. I'm probably going submit something in a week or so.Thanks for humoring me.

I would stick with something simple. I can't tell what half of those are meant to say at first glance and there are three or four I still have no idea what they are trying so say.

I'm an early thirties female but would absolutely get a kick out of a guy having a plate that said JAGNIT. I'm a grown child and find that hilarious.

Mine was free, but I paid a high price for it.

I took some of the advice, and tried to simplify a bit. Here are my current top 5.

I obviously had some fun playing with cat phrases. I have a little while before I should submit the form, so I'll think on it a bit more. But thanks again for the advice.

You could also consider the opposing type;
AMG LOL
BMW WUT
M4 HA
MB IS BM
Lots of those types, but more a cut on other makers.

Whatever you do, forgo the bland MYXKR or 03JAG ilk--if they can't tell what it is by the car's badging, repeating it on your tag won't help them and it makes it appear you drew a blank at the DMV but couldn't come home empty handed.

Personally, I thought ITSAFRD was hilarious!

That is one of the ones I still have no clue as to what it is trying to say 'Its a FRD'? If so, what is an FRD?

FORD. Ford owned Jaguar from 1990 until 2008. So his 2003 XKR is a Ford.

Depending on what part of the country you’re from, it may actually be pronounced as it appears on the plate: It’s a Ferd!

I’ll admit I was pretty pleased with myself when I came up with that one, but I think it might be a little “inside baseball”, as they say. I mean, not even all the Jag folks know the connection, let alone those from outside the community. I have a feeling I’d have to explain that one a lot, and people might still not get it.

I had an uncle who’s last name is Flood, and had the license plate “HI H2O”. When I was a kid, as soon as I was old enough to get the reference I thought it was great, but I know not everyone did.

I know what you mean. I had a plate that read BUFF52 and even a few inside my B-52 flying community thought I was claiming to be a buffed up 52 year old... Sometimes we can be a little too obscure for our own good--especially when we start substituting numbers for letters. For example: "ITSA4D" is technically correct but it just doesn't work.

I also have a personalized plate. I love the idea of them. My main thought is that It's all about who YOU are. So pass all this advice through that filter:
First, one consideration that may not matter to you: you're a white (I am assuming) male over 40 who's driving a jaguar. Are you sure you want to lean into a stereotype with your plate? Just asking.
Personally, I'd steer clear of anything with "kitty," or the like. It's a little Hugh Heffner these days. Unless you're into that sort of thing. Think back to your twenties (or even 30's): you see some older dude in a Jaguar with a plate that reads MEOWW or the like... yeah, not so much.
I do the "9 out of 10" test. I'm in Southern California, the land of the personalized plate, and I think the plate should be fun and not a test, and if 9 out of 10 people don't "get it" quickly, what's the point? In that vein, yeah, if you want to go Inside Baseball with the eight other Jag owners in Wisconsin who will get ITSAFRD, go nuts. Understand you will spend most of your time explaining it to people who will then smile gamely...

THEM: so what does your plate mean?
YOU: "It's a Ford!"
THEM: ...Uh-huh. Looks like a Jaguar.
YOU: Exactly! See, Ford owned Jaguar for a few years, and my car was made during that period, it's a 2003, and--
THEM: Excuse me...
And they wander back into the party. Wouldn't work for me.

For what it's worth: MY XBOX would make me smile. I think it's your winner so far.

I am into wine. Have one currently on the XE and had on the Range Rover. Been thinking of a wine one for the Rapide, but may be just too pretentious.

pk has some valid points, although his main points of "It's all about who YOU are" and "the 9 out of 10 test" aren't necessarily congruent. I doubt 9 out of 10 people would "get it" if you put DROPTOP on a convertible, so I wouldn't worry too much about reaching everyone that notices your plates.

That leaves you and saying something that reflects something about you in seven letters or less. Good Luck!
