Unfortunately we don't spend as much time in the XK forum as we would like, but late last year we had the opportunity to tackle the exhaust system on these fantastic GT's. The owner had previous work done by us on their FPace and had the XK sent to us for a suitable exhaust modification. The brief was to produce some appealing sound increases without spoiling the nature of the car. We created a valve system that's designed to retain some civilized character when the valves are closed. We also introduced a more aggressive looking tail trim, that's still in character with the vehicle. Our usual standard of purged, tig welded 304 grade stainless. Sound clips are in the works.
His verdict:
"Real aggressive at big throttle inputs, but a good, if louder than stock, purr when you are just toodling around."
i see a couple of design decisions i'm interested to know the consequences of. there's three hangers, it looks like you are only using the two on the sides at the rear -- why not weld a T shaped bar across the inlet pipes to take advantage of that bracket in the center where the mid pipes meet the tail assembly? isn't it important for acceleration and stopping?
you've chosen to reduce the tail inlet pipe rather than expand it over the mid pipes, which i suspect is so you can use an off-the-shelf 2.25" clamp. is that correct? did you have to modify the clamp, or, are those actually the stock clamps and they just already fit with the mid pipe on the outside of the joint rather than the inside?
Thank-you! We have some very talented guys working for us.

We did not find it to be critical, and did not have any issues with the exhaust moving around. Often when designing aftermarket systems we don't find all the brackets or hangers to be required. For example an Audi R8 uses 4 hangers, two top and two bottom and it weighs 70lbs. Our Race system is 15lbs so we only require 2.

Our system (as with virtually everything we make) is factory interchangeable and uses the factory attachment method. The center pipes sleeve inside the OEM exhaust, our system fits in exactly the same way.
Excellent job and looks professional. I enjoy a nice exhaust note but I would be a little concerned with having straight pipes here. Wouldn't go well in my neighborhood .

That is what the valve is for; being "quiet" when you need to be.

gotcha. i can't tell from the picture i guess. excellent work!
It looks like my set up, just a little refined!:-D c
Costed me only around $150!
Very good this exhaust. I want make the same. Have you sound video ? Where are you buy valves ?
For the exhaust to 2500 Dollars i think it's too expensive for only sound.

ne m'a coûté qu'environ 150 $! [/CITATION]
Hello, when you have the valves open, is the noise bearable on the motorway? And has engine behavior changed or has it stayed the same?

If I didn't have a bunch of deadbeat renters falsely using the CDC Eviction Halt to avoid paying rent, I'd have many thousands of dollars more than I have now. Plus, now I'll have to go through the painful (and expensive) eviction process once that halt is expired.
This is a costly pandemic for a lot of people.
