Hello,
I am curious if anyone knows the VIN Range for the 5.0L X150 XK/XKR/XKR-S/XKR-S GT cars. (I am only interested in the 2009/2010 thru 2015 5.0L cars VIN's.) EG. AMB34000 to FMB57000 (Looking for the last 5 or last 8 digits.)
Or if anyone has a link to such info.

Yes like that! Do you have the remaining to the end of MY 2015?

u102768 07-24-2017 05:41 AM

The only definite info I have is that the last ever XK is B56794.

I also note from the parts system that the new style R badge started from VIN B52041 so it is possible that is the start of the 2014MY.

trw999 07-24-2017 09:31 AM

Although the 2010 MY officially began with VIN B32753, the earliest 5.0L engined car I have a record of is B31400, an XKR in Ultimate Black, destined for Japan. It would have been dispatched from the works in September 2008, some four months before B32753, which was despatched in January 2009.

On 12 January 2009 Jaguar issued a press release concerning the new engine: "Jaguar has revealed the new XKR and XFR at the Detroit Auto Show 2009 – two cars that are true to the heritage of Jaguar's legendary performance, delivering a superb balance of high performance, dynamic ability and refinement.
The new generation of XK and XKR coupe and convertibles, with all-new V8 engines, deliver more power and performance with greater efficiency for 2010 Model Year. With interior enhancements, advanced lightweight aluminium body structure and a wider range of models, plus the new luxurious 'Portfolio' model, the new XK and XKR build on 60 years of legendary performance to deliver the best of everything Jaguar.
The all-new AJ-V8 Gen III direct-injection engines are the most advanced and efficient petrol engines Jaguar has ever produced. The XKR features a 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III delivering 510PS (510bhp, SAE), 625Nm of torque propelling it to 60mph in just 4.6 seconds. The XK features a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated AJ-V8 Gen III delivering 385PS (385bhp SAE), 515Nm of torque propelling it to 60mph in just 5.2 seconds.
Both models have improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions which meet the forthcoming EU5 emissions legislation. Exterior changes for the XK and XKR include a distinctive and purposeful new front end design, new LED rear lights and a new lower rear body valance. Inside the cabin, both the XK and XKR feature the exciting, user-friendly JaguarDrive Selector™ that was first seen on the XF to further enhance the XK's luxury sporting character.
There are now three models in the range: XK, XK Portfolio and XKR. The XK is priced from £59,900 for the coupe and £65,900 for the convertible and the XKR starts from £72,400 for the coupe and £78,400 for the convertible. These models are available from late March."

I would assume that the 2008 built 5.0L cars were mostly development hacks and press cars.

Hope that helps.

VIN B51302 was the last car built in 2012.

VIN B54164 was the last car built in 2013. In the last three months of 2013 sales were down to only a handful of units.

By this time the MY started in January, so MY 2014 began in Jan 2013; MY 2015 began in Jan 2014.

VIN B56794, the last X150 built, rolled off the line 24 July 2014.

Thus only 2,630 cars were built between Jan and Jul 2014.

Thanks for all the replies, this is exactly what I was looking for.

Since some of you seem so informed on the subject of the X150, perhaps you have additional information to share.

I, as I'm sure some others are also, would be very interested to know the 5.0L X150 breakdown by: XK / XKR / XKR-S / GT, coupe & convertible, and even exterior color numbers for each, and/or by MY, if anyone has them.

That is strange because B31936 is a red 5.0L convertible that is buzzing around New Zealand and I have a note that it left the factory in July 2008. Topix doesn't show that information any more so I can't confirm.

I recall a few years back there were some posts on number of cars made per year and the colors of them. I think the poster Richzak was the one who found some of this info. I don't know what the right search words would be but I know the info is somewhere in this form.

In Nigel Thorley's book Jaguar XK/XKR published in late 2014 you can find production information broken down by year and model (XK convertible & Coupe, XKR Convertible and Coupe). I tried to reproduce some data in another thread but it would not accept the layout so the information is very difficult to read. Because of the publication date the data does not go beyond MY 2013. In 2012 there were 1762 XK verts, 2222 XKR verts, no coupes in either 2012 or 2013. In 2013 there were 1461 XK verts and 1399 XKR verts according to his book . The production chart can be found on page 2017.

Elsewhere he lists various options that were available including exterior colors and interior treatments as well specifications and all of the various wheels.

SAJAC44R5AMB31936 has a dispatch date of 23 October 2008. The July 2008 date is probably the build date, obtained from the figure indented on the top of the front valance of the car. If an heritage certificate is obtained, the date they give is between the two, when the final trim was finished.

I'm not sure that anyone has yet correlated all of that information. Jaguar Heritage would be able to - if you could persuade someone there to spend several weeks doing it!

Here is a not exhaustive list of some of the different types of XK produced with the 5.0L engine, to give you an idea of the scale of the problem:

XKR-S: introduced in March 2010 in Switzerland

XKR 75: to celebrate Jaguar's 75th anniversary. Only 75 produced, 20 RHD and 55 LHD. UK models went on sale in July 2010 with delivery in October2010

XKR 175: commemorating the company's 75th anniversary. Atotal of 175 cars were exported to the US, plus 15 to Canada in October 2010

XKR Poltrona Frau: Special Edition with only 18 cars made, introduced in 2011 for the North American market only

XKR-S & XKR Dynamic: in November 2011 introduction of XKR-S Convertible, Speed and Black option packs, as well as XKR Dynamic pack

XK Artisan SE: introduced in February 2012

XKR-S GT: 30 units for United States and Canada, 10 for UK. UK model was delivered to customers in October 2013

XK Signature and Dynamic R: introduced March 2014 to replace XK, Portfolio and XKR. Jaguar Heritage report 676 XK Dynamic R made

Final Fifty: introduced April 2014 Final Fifty Special Edition. 50 were sold, all in the US, split evenly in 25 coupe and 25 convertible body styles

XK66 Special Edition: introduced May 2014 to the German market to celebrate 66 years since intro of XK120 there, only 66 made

Here is another 2010 5.0L with a VIN of SAJWA4DC8AMB31923 which is more than 800 earlier than the above shown start #'s of the 5.0L???

There may be pre-production cars (we had this with S-Types - very confusing e.g. when trying to buy parts).

Not on the XK's, all pre-production cars were sent for crushing so that they could never get to market.

JagV8 12-14-2017 02:11 PM

Puzzled how you know that to be true?

Cambo 12-14-2017 03:28 PM

While the official VIN range for the X150 starts at B00379, i.e. there were 378 VIN's assigned to pre-production, there are a at least a few cars out there on the road with earlier VIN's than B00379, as I recall a member of this forum has one of those cars.

Same deal with the changeover from 4.2 to 5.0, officially the 5.0 starts at B32753, yet there are 5.0L cars out there with earlier VIN's, and earlier build dates than what was officially communicated.

When I worked for Jaguar racing, one of the perks was to be able to borrow a pre-production XKR for a short period of time. Several people inquired to be able to buy these cars as they were to all intense purposes the real deal, however we were told that they were being sent for crushing as Jaguar didn't want to risk having a 'test' car being in the public domain and breaking down, harming their reputation (Which at the time they were trying heavily to get rid of their unreliable reputation).

JagV8 12-15-2017 08:53 AM

Yet they did just that (i.e. sold them) with S-Types (including a really WEIRD STR). Odd.

Leecccmk1 12-15-2017 02:36 PM

My xkr-s is registered sept 2014 & 900 cars before the last one off the line, can I find out how many black xkr-s coupes were made?
cheers
lee
