Weather drive break

Well after last weeks snow we were thinking it's time to store the car. But after yesterday's rain and the prediction of a good down pour tomorrow the salt from the snow will be washed away. This means that by Wednesday and Thursday I'll have the opportunity to take the car out for a wash and refuel. So good times again and we'll just wait and watch for the rest of the winter season. Enjoy the ride.

This is what I do with my fairlane. It needs a bath but there was no way I was going to try to hit the car wash on a warm weekend. Every single time I pull it out of the garage for the past 27 years it's been rained on or gets dirty...

If you can get a couple days a month through the winter; why not drive it? Especially if it's store in a semi-heated garage. The cold tire temp won't be that low.

OK nice day today with 45* and some sun. Took the car out for a 45 minute ride going from country roads to parkway roads. I gotta say these SC's love the cold air as it was like a rocket today. So filled it up with gas and wiped it down and put it up on the lift. It will be a wait and see for the next ride . The rains over the last few days washed away all of the salt and sand so everything was pretty clean. Until the next break.

I like the black top. What color is your interior?

JT, what are those spinners on your wheel centers?

Good eye! I missed those. Must be his inner 'James Bond' shining through!

Just a quirk of mine. All my cars need to have 4 exhaust tips and spinners. Personal taste not favored by all but I like it. Like the old joke of the guy and the hooker. She looked at him and said with a laugh , who you gonna please with that. He said ME.

You only have to please yourself. Even though I can't see them very well they do look interesting and somewhat reminiscent of the spinners on JB's DB5.

As I mentioned my earlier cars had knock off wire wheels and the 63 Corvette had spinners on the wheel covers . I have made adapters for others so this is just something I list as a personal touch instead of black wheels or CF vents and so on. Pretty simple here as I just turned down some aluminum stock and secured it to the inner flange of the wheel hub and screwed and locked the spinners. Got a metal badge and glued it to the spinner. I've considered covering the nuts but it wouldn't fit with the wheel design. Now if I wanted to spend the time and money I'd get a set of racing pin style knock off wheels made up but this suits my fine.

JT, I really like them.

OK here we are again with 2 days of heavy rain. Looks like the salt/sand have been washed away and by tomorrow the weather will be clear. So down comes the Jag and we'll be taking a Christmas cruise checking out the decorations . Here's hoping it's a brown Christmas. Enjoy the drive.

OK , blue skies , a crisp 39* F and clear dry roads washed clean by the last few days of rain. Took the car down , checked coolant and oil and off to the open road. Cruised the back roads of the county for an hour and a half . Some light throttle driving and a few exhaust clearing accelerations. Really can't do an italian tune up as it gets to triple figures to quickly. Oh and just turned 24K. ENjoy the drive

Took mine out with a smile as I get another day before the evil snow. Passed a minivan on a piece of straight road and the sound is such perfect music. Felt sorry for the minivan driver. I wonder what he thought when I blew by. I hope he marveled at the "music".

1st drive of the new year yesterday. Had to do an oil change on my Lexus so I needed to use the lift. Backed out the jag and and after I finished the oil change decided to go for a ride. The week end rain once again washed the local roads so it was dry and clean. Did 50 miles and hit the go peddle a few times. So I'm liking this climate change thing and hope that it will stay warm for future drives. Also would be nice if some day the golf courses stay open all year round up north here.

jagtoes,
I got my X100 convertible back this week after probably 8 or 9 months of doing a mild restoration and respray, and the first thing I did was drop the top for two days of cool (for L.A.) 65F sunshine. I really missed my 'vert for this reason plus the fact that you can throw two fullsized golf bags in the trunk without removing the woods and still have room for groceries (played yesterday afternoon). Supposed to rain for the next couple of days, but I'm getting my X150 coupe back tomorrow from the respray of the front bumper caused by a falling oak tree limb a couple of months ago. While I enjoy the 'vert, I hate the jiggly ride of my X100 and sorely have missed my 5.0 XKR coupe for the last couple of weeks.
