Weird noise from rear

Morning everyone,

I went to Nurburgring in my 5.0 S/C XKR this past weekend and on my return i noticed if i take a corner fairly quickly i get a knock on the rear, it's a fairly central knock and is deep (not a tiny/rattle noise) and won't knock on slow corner or if I full lock and turn. I know the rear diff got hot, i saw 110°C~, so I'm hoping it's not the diff that's broken. Is there any way to check the diff? Would doing a rear diff oil change help? Sorry for the vague info, just looking at what my options are before sending it away!

Thanks in advanced.

If it was a diff problem, I'd expect it to be noisy all the time and increase with hard cornering but Jaguar recommendation is to change the diff oil after tracking mainly because of the temperatures. I hope you aren't that unlucky to have broken it.

You'll have been investigating the cornering limits so the rear upper wishbone bushes could be shot which does make a knocking or cracking sound. The leading bush is the usual one to wear/fail.

Replacement bushes weren't available when I did this one but they are now.

No alternative other than getting the vehicle up off the ground and checking the drivetrain to pinpoint the source. Guessing soon gets expensive with Jaguars!

Thank you for the info, yeah I hope I haven't broken the diff! It's not loud, but it's noticeable with the music off only on corners.
As you said i would've also expected it to make noise on full lock going slow!
I'm doing a fluid change during the week and will have the car on a ramp so will be checking all the bushes in the rear!

Just had a drive of it today, it always knocks when I accelerate from a standstill, could that still be the bushes?

It only knocks the once, so I'm thinking you're right with it being a Bush now!

Could be anywhere along the driveline or rear suspension. It's always extremely difficult to pinpoint the source when driving.

If it is a wishbone bush, remember to get new copper crush washers for the brake hose to caliper connection - the hose has to come off to remove/replace the wishbone.
