Well that was a fun grocery store trip!!
I was coming back from the grocery store and I encountered a newer (don't think it was the 12' model) black Dodge Viper on a pretty busy local road. So I'm driving and admiring it and what do you know but we both came up to a stop light as the lead cars. He was in the left lane and I was in the right. I didn't give any indications that I wanted to run nor did he butI threw it into sport mode anyways. :) Light turns green, no traffic for about a half mile ahead of us at that time. So I get on it a bit thinking I would sneakily get the jump but so did he so my sneak attack effort was null and void. So then it was it was foot through the floor mat time lol.
We probably both got on it full throttle at about 35mph and I'm not lying when I say I was about a half car length ahead of him the whole time until we reached about 110mph when he started to pull on me just a bit. A car decides to turn into our path (more of his) from the opposite street so we ended it as obviously everyone knows it's very dangerous and borderline stupid to street race on a semi busy road but sometimes you can't resist. Come up to the next light and he's directly behind me. Light turns green and he pulls up next to me waves and I wave back and he turned into the mall and I went home to unload groceries with my adrenaline spewing out of my body! Throughly impressed with how my baby stood up to the big bad wolfe for a while given our car is a GT type and the Viper is a beast. I didn't use the paddle shifters either. The one thing I didn't like about the Viper was the way his exhaust sounded. It's definitely a different sound as I've never driven one nor went head to head with one to hear it full bore. Just wanted to sure my little story with you guys/gal(s) as it was my first battle. Have a great weekend. -Mike |
Actually, I'm looking at pictures on the net of the newest Viper and it has the exhaust coming out on the drivers side to the rear of the door the same as the black Viper I went up against. Is that the only year (2012 or 2013) that the exhaust is set up like that? If so I'm even more happy. Ha

It is impressive for anything to keep up with a late model Viper. I assume you have the XKR. Which year?

I have the 07' XKR. Have owned it since last August.

Hate to be the downer, but I don't think a '07 XKR is competition for the first generation Viper, yet alone a fifth. The Viper's a pure bred beast built for the task.

Good to hear a funny story :D
Happy driving |
Well, you've got the more comfortable and useful car.
|
Of course I know an 07' XKR has no chance against a Viper. You're right he prob was just messing around a bit but it was still fun and it made me feel good. :)
